The Gieco Cavemen did it

ABC had a show, taken from the GEICO Cavemen, about .... Cavemen.
Is anyone out there ready to do a show based on Flo from Progressive? TBS?

OMG, I would hope not. She is the most annoying person on TV next to Benny Hinn! As far as I'm concerned, she can take her deductible and stick it where the sun don't shine! :p

I'm not so sure about that, but with so many TV studios running out of ideas lately, anything is possible these days.

But how do you build an interesting story out of someone who's only real goal in her life is to get "a big tricked out name tag"?

Well, she can do 'calculator humor', throw instant office parties, and perform ventriloquism with a piggy bank...yeah I know, but I've seen recent excuses for TV shows get away with less 8)

It might work.

There are actually many websites and forums out there on the internet populated by
people who are extremely turned-on by Flo. (personally, I find this highly disturbing)

Seinfeld was about NOTHING....

The fact that all of you know who she is illustrates how well she has done her job. And a caricature of a 50's waitress was pure genius.

"Flo" is played by actress and comedienne Stephanie Courtney, who has a moderately succesful career doing guest shots and small parts in episodic TV. Despite the red lipstick and weird uniform for the Progressive commercials, she's actually quite attractive.

In one of those ironic "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" sorts of thing, she played a guest role in the short-lived Cavemen sitcom, starring those Neanderthals from Geico.

So it all comes full-circle (or in the cavemen's case, full-wheel).

(I bet Cavemen used to the wheel to start fire!)

But as for Flo, they can have her sell Insurance by night, in Arizona while waitressing at a cafe called Mel's Diner. Another character can be a divorced single Mom, we'll call Alice! Cover the antics and histeria that goes on in the Diner, with the owner as the cook!!

Poor Steph Courtney. Why couldn't it be her that left a message disparaging "teabaggers" on Dick Armey's answering machine?

oh, yes, she has earned her place in TV history alongside Madge the Manicurist and Jane the Plumber.
Has cemented Progressive's branding image for sure. And she is attractive in real life (though I still
find these fettish sites about Flo highly creepy. Then again, I understand there are some about Betty
Rubble too...) I am happy as a young actress she has landed a steady paying gig.

Like others have said, "Life, With Flo" won't be any worse than most of the sitcoms out there.
"The Flo Chronicles"
"Hustlin' Flo"
"Your Weekly Dose of Flo"
"A Visit from Flo on Your TV"
whatever they want to call it
Call it "According to Flo" and it will last nine arduous years.

I vote for "Aunt Flo." ;D

By the way, wouldn't Polly Holiday be able to dispute any new character with that name and claim intellectual property?

Actually, that would be Warner Brothers' call. Just ask Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) when she reminded Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) on "30 Rock" when she told him about why he secretly got the cast members of "Night Court" together to surprise Kenneth without letting NBC know.

Unless Polly Holliday had the foresight to nail down an airtight contract for perpetual rights to her character.....
If she knew her characterization was gonna be that spot-on and memorable, maybe, just maybe... ;)

D.C. Douglas left that ridiculous message and gave his real name and phone number.
(apparently he flunked Crank Calling 101 when he was in grade school...)

Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca probably did it before the GEICO Cavemen.
