The GM Employee Discount

After reading the last few weeks of posts about the only thing left for Greater Media to do would be an employee discount on their commercials.

How many mistakes can a company make in a cluster? I mean programming in Philadelphia isn't that difficult. This company fires and hires yet all it does is bring the group lower and lower.

93.3 WMMR

Replaces Sam Milkman, who was no genius himself, for Bill Weston. Bill has brought the station to points lower then the points Milkman was fired for. He hires Jaxon to replace a ratings winner Razz, and then nobody needs to be reminded of the tragic events of last summer, when Frank Lario was kicked off the air for Dee Snider.

950 WPEN

When they had the Phillies nobody could hear the stations signal. Now that they lost them, they must feel it's time to improve it. They spend time and money first on IBOC which destroyed what coverage it already had. Then they replace Standards and spents lots of money advertising and hiring a full time higher payed staff, only to sink lower in the ratings.

102.9 WMGK

I will give them credit on this one. WMGK is one of Philly's better stations with John DeBella and Andre Gardner they sound extremely professional.

95.7 WBEN

Let's face this is the biggest of embaressments for the cluster. After hiring Mike Sommers to come in and safe the day, they did what they usually do. When, Mix looked liked it was going to maybe work just by being consistently on the air they flip it to Ben. Now, Ben is in trouble with Paragon Research for stealing intellectual property along with the other clones.

When will Greater Media do what "GM" would have done by now. Recall the Philadelphia decison makers!

Greater Media - Philly

Although I'll probably be laughed off this board and I'll end up going back to the board of my own market (Connecticut) here's what I'd do with the GM stations in Philly.

93.3 FM - I would take this station and make it a mix of classic rock and new rock. It works really well on COX's WPLR in New Haven, Connecticut.

95.7 FM - I would make this station Spanish CHR. Popular Spanish Music belongs on a crystal clear FM station, not on a rim-shotter AM. Hispanics will listen to their music on AM, but only if there's no alternative on FM.

102.9 FM - I would make this station WPEN-FM and put the oldies format thats currently on 950AM minus the infomercials.

950 AM - I would make this station a news/talk station or a Progressive Talk station. It would either be an alternative to what's on 1210 and 990 or it would be Air America and the other liberal talk show hosts like Stephanie Miller. <P ID="signature">______________

Isn't MMR a mix of classic rock and new rock already?
