The calvary is coming to fix that on air hatchet job. Jimmy hears a top notch consultant and program director will be hired. Mt. Wilson knows their launch was nothing near the grandious launch of Entercom in SF. They know this thing blow sewer water.

So this thing is already costing Mr. Levine extra $$$. Whereas, if he had done it right in the first place, he would not have the problem.

Oh Gosh.....CALVARY..............CAVALRY.........WHAT-EVER!!! Why be so pick-eeee???

If "Go Country" doesn't work, perhaps Mt. Wilson broadcasting can do an LMA with Calvary Chapel radio (see K-Wave in Orange County) and do a "Gospel Country" format, with Pastor Chuck Smith doing mornings! There's your "Calvary" as opposed to "CAVALRY."

But hey, who really cares about correct spelling.

Oh yeah, and the consultant that is going to come in and "clean up" KKGO .......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

it's Rusty Walker.

Is that a fact? Have you scooped all the trades on that one? No one has seen an announcement...

You'd think they'd get someone with a working knowledge of Country.

Knowing how to do Country in Mississippi does not make one an expert in Los Angeles.

"grandious launch"??????? It was the most boring, un-inspiring cookie-cutter flip I've ever heard. A lofty mention of San Francisco, and how "The Wolf" was ready to strike. All they did was replace cities in Seattle with Bay Area cities. Same script. (I'm speking of Entercom flip from "MAX FM" to "95.7 The Wolf BTW)

Not gonna happen - Levine told his boy (Manager) to tell the consultant to wait untill July to talk. Sorry - So it's pretty much a 0.7 share.

At least he's got some good on air talent.

Sean Parr 6-10
10-3 Tonya
3-7 Todd Baker

Now, if he could just fill nights and some weekend shifts! No more of that dial globe crap.

I like Paul Freeman and Whitney Allen. Both are very accomplished jocks with lots of LA air time. I agree though about the bird-fed programming -- I absolutely HATE the way the "segues" are done so sloppily when at the end of a song, they'd fade it out too early to get the pre-recorded liner from the jock and then "segue" to him/her live, I would think even a novice can hear what's going on. But it's more important to be local as possible for the station to attain credibilty.

No argument there, but adding 'After Midnite With Blair Garner' would be a VERY smart thing to do do; his ratings were typically MUCH larger than the rest of the dayparts at KZLA.

Adding Bob Kingsley's countdown show (9 AM on Sundays would be terrific) would also be wonderful.

It's too bad the deal for Paul Freeman fell through. Would have been great to continue to hear him in L.A. as a local-only host. But what an odd deal it would have been as he still would be a Dial Global employee.

Look folks, I know this is just a message board, but spelling counts in real life.

Really, it does.

Why? Well, in part, when you misspell something, you often have unintentionally spelled a different word, thereby changing everything you meant to say.

CAVALRY are soldiers who fight mounted on horseback.

CALVARY is the hill which folks say Jesus was crucified on.

So when you write "calvary is coming," it's almost as if you're writing "Jesus is coming." Since we're talking about country radio, well, I guess that's not out of the ballpark, and even though we all know you meant "cavalry" coming to the rescue of hapless country fan homesteaders in your post, well, just spell it right. Por favor.

Garner can't happen. KFRG has an exclusive LA contract for it.

Kingsley might...don't know what Frog did when Kix Brooks took over American Country Countdown. Kingsley is EXTREMELY loyal to his stations.

KFRG has a market-exclusive contract in Riverside-San Bernadino (market # 25), not Los Angeles (market #2). Go Country is free to pick up the show if they wish.

Wrong about that. Frog has an exclusive for LA as well. Not the first time Frog has had a LA exclusive either...even when ZLA was on the air, Frog, because of better DMA ratings, got exclusives to block Z. Kingsley was one of the blocks for example. That was my comment about what might be the case with ACC or Kinglsey. When ABC changed the program and Kingsley was available, I'm not certain what the contractual arrangment was made.

'After Midnite' is currently airing on KFRG, KHAY (Oxnard/Simi Valley) and one of San Diego's stations, all of which can be heard throughout most of LA & Orange counties.

Are you sure that 'After Midnite' can't be heard on KKGO?

Also, did Premiere Radio move 'After Midnite' to KFRG after KZLA flipped last August?

Part of that was for an exclusive deal. Premiere had offered Frog exclusivity in the market, before ZLA picked the show up the first time Frog's DMA numbers, the tonage advertisers buy, is as good in the LA DMA as ZLA's ever was. Premiere's rep confirmed that.

I think Kingsley is still on KFRG, I remember hearing a year end top 50 for 2006 and it was him hosting it.
