The Godfather on AMC

My friend told me I should see the movie The Godfather. I told him maybe the next time it was on TV I'd watch it. What I did not know is that the entire saga 1, 2, and 3 is almost 12 hous long when it will be airing on AMC this Saturday. Is there a way for me to get the gist of the movie without having to sit in front of the TV for 12 hours?

I don't think there is a Cliff's Notes version of "The Godfather". This trilogy has to be seen in sequence because it is a rare example of the sequels being equally as good AND essential as the first film. Each installment has certain plot elements that are completely necessary to the arc of the story. I think the three "Godfather" movies are as good as film gets.

But if you think you'll get sofa sores from watching all three in their natural
sequence, you could rent 'em and watch them one at a time. No commercials and no pixelization masks covering certain, ahem, features.
