The Good Thing About KKFR Power 98.3

I must admit that I'm liking how Power 98.3 has been sounding lately. I know most will argue that there was no change and it still all sounds the same, but..... it's changed somewhat slightly musically, whether people have noticed or not. Yes, there are still quite a few improvements (or maybe I should rather say changes) that I'd like to see take place with the station, and maybe about one mixshow dj that I don't care too much for there, but I think as of right now it's sounding pretty good. I guess Power 106 in California is the one to thank for getting me into Power 98.3 again, in addition to a change in music trends. I enjoyed Power 106 in Cali, mostly due to how hard they work to make and keep their station fun and interesting, and Power 98.3 in some ways is seemingly following in their footsteps in some ways, whether intentionally or coincidentally (but I'd prefer even more if they could follow Power 96 in Miami). If I had to pick between Power 98.3 and Power 106, it would be hard to choose because they both offer certain things that the other doesn't quite offer, but overall, I'd......... well, let me just say I'm pretty satisfied with how the rhythmics and top 40's are being handled here in Phoenix when it comes to music, specialty shows, and mix shows. In some ways, the rhythmics we have here I enjoy more than L.A.

KZZP is cool, and I still pick KZON as my #1 listen all day / anytime of the day station, (no matter if it's morning, noon, afternoon, or night show, Monday Through Sunday), but KKFR is definitely sounding pretty good to me too these days, and much of the new music that's being picked are definitely hits that I like!

Well anyway, these are my thoughts about Power 98.3 in it's current state. Sounding pretty good musically now, but still, some changes could be made to much better the station in my opinion.

I can't seem to pick up the station regularly enough to listen anymore, and apparently the same is true for others as the new PPM currency has shown a serious slide for KKFR. The static is just unbearable for most.

Didn't hurt fellow rim-shotter Movin 97~Five...in fact they had their best showing ever. Same xmttr site as Power 98~Three. Go figure.

...There's definitely something about the station that's getting better, musically... at least to me.

Yes I do have trouble picking it up sometimes, but... I find my ways when I have to.

I do notice Knick Knack seems to have disappeared, which I'm kind of disappointed about because he did bring some of his own flavor and style to the station at times. Not exactly sure if he's still there, but at least he was there through the years they needed him most. A majority of the present dj's are doing pretty good.

As for me, the music is sounding better, and I'm glad they chose to pick up Silver Medallion and give Livvi Franc a chance. LMFAO is good, too. Just wish Maino was more successful in Az... Some of you may know what I'm talking about, while some others are now probably beginning to think "what the heck is he talking about" at this point.

Nik is no longer employed by Riviera... or should I say Citibank? Rumors have it that he has been calling around to the other stations in town and no one is interested in him or his ego.

Wow. why people hate on Knick is beyond me but like he said that is the way it goes in radio! However he is my boy and after hearing what he had to say about how things went down, I felt like he deserves some love.

Knick is a dad and was excited about the future and he said him leaving early for doctor visits and because his wifey was sick was the main reason he was being crucified by joey. Which led to their falling out while he was there, so for the better of himself and the joey show as my boy knick calls it, he decided to step down which didn't sit well with mr boy. Knick said it was a matter of time before he got fired cuz thats what joey does when he doesn't like a situation. He said he didn't like what former producer bootleg was doing so he had him fired, him and the other nut phila were not getting along, so he had him fired.

Knick said he was getting tired of being slapped around by joey and how he talked so much about the new PD before she had the gig but as soon as she got it, Joey was her #1 fan.

So before you hate on my boy Knick and his ego, talk to him first, he's a good dude. If only you could hear knicks stories.

Well, there are two places I think Knick Knack would be PERFECT at, especially for his style... and this is nothing new - I've been thinking this even way before I first signed into these boards.

What's sad about this entire situation is that Power is now evolving into becoming his third perfect home, but now that chapter in his life has come to a close.
