THE GREAT BILL DRAKE

Legendary programmer Bill Drake has died after a long battle with lung cancer at the age of 71. Bill was responsible for the "Boss Radio" top 40 of the sixties and the creator of the famous 136KGB along with 93KHJ. RIP!

The greatest programmer and innovator in the history of radio. We all need to have a moment of silence for the man that defined radio the great Bill Drake!

Bill Drake took KGB from being a second rate MOR station (against KOGO) and beat the legendary KCBQ, with the amazing format known as Boss Radio. Bill personally hired the great Chuck Cooper in San Diego in 1964.

God Bless Bill Drake, radio pioneer and legend!

If only radio had another Bill Drake right now it might be worth listening to.

great guy radio will never be the same so many old jocks from the 70's die from lung cancer too much smokin in the control room in those days.......RIP
