Well, if you can't get HD Radio into new cars, then might as well give this defective product away with used cars ! :D

I can't believe I'm stooping to Pocketlint's level, but...
"Other HD Radio stations will likely begin similar promotions in coordination with local dealerships, complementing the efforts taking place at the OEM level where BMW, Hyundai, MINI and Jaguar have all announced plans to add HD Radio receivers to current and future vehicle models. (07-13-07)"

There ya go. 4 vehicle manufacturers are putting HD into their NEW cars.
How about reading on instead of just reading with your close-minded brain.

"The facts on Hyundai's HD radio announcement"

"Promoting the idea that HD radio is for the elite (which is exactly what these announcements do), and as an option-only for that elite, will do little to make 800 million radios into HD radios in your lifetime or mine."

http://www.hear2.com/2007/04/the_facts_on_hy.html

"At Hyundai, Branding Is Job 2"

"Despite receiving high marks for quality, the carmaker has struggled with stalled sales. Marketing guru Steve Wilhite has to sell drivers a new story."

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_21/b4035069.htm

"Jaguar has struggled of late."

“U.S. automakers not jumping into HD Radio”

"Satellite showdown" CNNMoney.com

"Satellite radio is a viable business model. Every car is going to have satellite radio eventually. Think of the number of cars out there, and how more people are getting used to the service, he said."

http://money.cnn.com/2006/11/07/technology/satellite/index.htm

As you can see, your post means little - Hyundai and Jaguar sales have stalled, the Big 3 have rejected HD Radio, and Satellite Radio is taking over in-dash.

"Merger or Not, Carmakers are Attuned to Satellite Radio - One of four vehicles sold equipped with XM, Sirius"

"Automakers are betting big that satellite radio is here to stay - whether or not regulators approve the merger of its two U.S. providers... Automakers and satellite radio providers are launching joint marketing efforts. For example, Hyundai Motor America and XM promote satellite radio as standard equipment on the 2007 Sonata and other models."

OOPS... I missed this article ! :D HD Radio remains an expensive, defective $500 OPTION, as Satellite Radio is becoming STANDARD on a number of automobiles. Make sure you read the whole article and come better prepared next time ! :D

Speaking as someone who's sold cars before, the average cost of a stereo head unit with a CD player runs around $400-500 anyway. I'm sure satellite, MP3 decks, etc. are more for factory upgrades. Factory or dealer-installed manufacturer-approved options in new cars are often ridiculously expensive.

The HD car giveaway is a very good promotion. This is what should be done. The auto manufacturers have always done these types of upgrades for a wide variety of options, and it's good for the Ibiquity gang as well.

I guess I should ask an obvious question that you probably won't answer anyway, PocketRadio, but here goes:

What is your beef with HD radio anyway?

And is it really worth racking up thousands of posts griping about it on a friggin' message board (and yes, I am well aware of your sock puppets)?

Are you afraid of technology? Is the earth still flat?

Do Edison wax cylinders still sound better than CDs?

What exactly is it that you get out of railing against HD?

No I think I'm being fair. We deserve an answer to this question, given that you troll so often here. With the heavy volume that you do post, I demand a response by you to the questions that I have posed. If you refuse to do so, then we all know what you're really made of and perhaps it would be best if you just disappear, and let the grown-ups discuss this topic in a rational manner without the infantile trolling.

"LG Muziq: Beam music from cellphone straight to FM"

"The LG Muziq, available next month from Sprint, will be able to download music wirelessly and transmit it directly to your FM radio."

You are right - why, are any of us wasting time debating HD Radio ? :D

I suggest you read the archives. That's why they're here.
