that it really also includes Los Angeles stations. If you grew up in Southern California and consider "old school" to be something that was played a lot longer than five years ago, then it doesn't get any better than cruising up Coast Highway late on a sunny afternoon, listening to San Diego's own Shotgun Tom playin' the oldies' on K-EARTH 101. That station really does keep alive the spirit and even the sound of KHJ (and KGB) Boss Radio. Shotgun has been on the air now for 40 years but makes it sound like he's havin' fun.
I hope you folks in the South County can pick up K-EARTH and you folks in the North County, when you need a lift, hop on Coast Highway, tune into 101, cruise from Solana Beach to Oceanside (or vice-versa) and hope they start playing the Beach Boys or Jan and Dean when you hit one of those stretches where the highway runs between a lagoon and the beach and you're totally surrounded by sun, sand and water.
Now if only I can figure out how to put down the roof on my mini-van...
