The Greatest Idea For Dallas Radio

Put the Saturday night clown from KAAM on the new all sports station 990 A. M. He would fit in well with the on-the-air people on 990 A. M. The KAAM Saturday night clown and the on-the-air people on 990 A. M. are about equal in on-the-air ability and communication skills. You could actually interchange any of the on-the-air
people between KAAM and 990 A. M. and nobody would know the difference.

I hope this post was supposed to be cynical because it seems no one even cares. ;D

No, I think he's serious.

I remember someone, I assume this guy, complaining about how amateurish the KAAM dude was...And I remember saying you get what you pay for, and with what they're probably billing they're paying as much as they can...

And I agree with him about 990. I listen a lot because it's hands down the worst, wheels-off, train wreck of a radio station I've EVER heard.

I was particularly amused the other day when I heard positioning as (sic) 'the place for real sports fan to talk sports ', and then they proceeded to spend 10 minutes talking movies...

Hey if you wantto rip the Ticket for not talking enough sports, have at it...But be sure you can back it up...

Of course, they've got the unfortunate problem of trying to break into a market that already has 2 successful sports station, at a time when one team is in total off-season mode, 2 have been kicked out of teh playoff race, and the 4th team is the 2nd worst in their league...

Nothing like bad timing...And I'm still hearing rumors that there's people not getting paid...I've got a source that says there's a bunch of people owed money...

And if so, Thom bailey better hope the station gets succesful quick...because there's a lot of little lawsuits and small claims that will eat up his time and profit margin...

I would like to respond to the above post. What I wrote was partly cynical and partly serious. Remember, all comedy comes out of tragedy. While I have focused on the lack of talent and professsionalism at both KAAM and 990 A. M., there are many other things that bother me about Dallas radio. I have always found that the Dallas radio market has always had inferior talent in relation to the size of the market. The ticket is only marginally better than 990 A. M. I can't listen to it either. I would like an all sports talk station to actually talk about sports and I have always had the feeling that the guys on the ticket weren't that knowledgable. All I know is this, when I go out in my car and turn on the radio, there is nothing in this market that motivates me at all in any format. I usually end up listening to KRLD. While they don't compare to the all news stations, in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago, at least they are non offensive. The only station that I can stand for music is 88.5 F. M. KEOM, the Mesquite Highschool station. They have no audio processing and the announcers are bad but, at least they have an excuse. They are highschool kids. Also, while I would much prefer music from the 50s and 60s, the 70s music that they play is tolerable and all stuff that I played when it was originally out at various radio stations where I was employeed at the time. Overall, there are slim pickings anywhere on either band of the Dallas radio dial.

You've just nailed it,but believe it or not San Antonio radio is worse.

Despite the lack of Urban AC, I like San Antonio radio. I think it's better than Houston, where I am. This market is terrible.

SA RADIO "ONCE" was good. Now its absymal. One is better off with an ipod, satellite or cd player when visiting

Speaking of a train wreck:
Heard on KAAM...The three Tenors into Toto.....Tony Bennett into CCR... LOL!!!!

The one who kills me on KAAM is the German fellow with the accent, Herman Bockelman. I don't understand why he's on the air, I don't understand why they promote him throughout the day, etc. I do like his taste in foreign artists. But back to the question...why is he on the air and WHO the devil is he?

I don't think there are many qualified talents that want to work on sat night for 7 bucks an hour.
