Louisville The groove 103.9 is no more

100.5 Louie FM disappeared because iHeart had a new executive with a format idea he wanted to try somewhere. The company just picked 100.5 in Louisville.

It wasn't because the Louie format was doing poorly.

The format that replaced it was "Gen X Radio," which flamed out fairly quickly.

The format that replaced it was "Gen X Radio," which flamed out fairly quickly.
And yet, the only market where Gen X Radio succeeded was Louisville due to the perfect confluence of their being no Classic Hits, Hot AC, or Alternative station in the market at the time. It was only a programmer change that led to its demise at the time.

I heard Gen-X radio a few times while passing through. I'm Gen-X myself, and always found the imaging voice to be condescending, and the music selection falling short of my expectations. But that's just me 😆
