99.9 went off the air at about 11:30 AM Tuesday 3/4. At first their signal faded in and out in approximately 2-3 second intervals and then finally went off completely.
They returned to the air a couple minutes later in mono on very limited power.
Did the transmitter finally blow up? All I know is that now the girl in the next office can't listen to it and maybe I'll finally get a day of peace at work. How can anyone listen to the same songs ALL DAY EVERY DAY? At least with Top 40 the music changes every week or two.
I honestly believe that there is something mind-numbing behind a station like 99.9 FM. Is it possible that someone's brain could be so limited that they need a constant input of only 300 songs everyday for their entire life? How can someone stand it?
I find that my thought process is numbed when I have to listen to it for more than a minute or two. If I'm thinking about an interesting or complicated matter, I'm actually unable to process information when I'm working within listening distance of her radio set to that station. And that girl who is on in the middle of the day...her voice is like fingernails on a blackboard.
It's definitely a conspiracy on the part of the powers-that-be who finance radio stations such as that one. They only want to make impressionable idiots out of us so that we will go out and buy whatever crap they're selling this week. I should know...you should meet the girl in the next office.
It's a disgrace.
