The Hawk's new frequency .. 104.9FM

Status update from the 101.5FM The Hawk's Facebook page (10/7)

"101.5 THE HAWK: On 11/4 The Hawk is moving on up the dial to 104.9fm. Facebook doesn't allow you to change the fan page name...so I had to create a new one. PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW & continue to be a fan of the Hawk. Do it today so when we make the jump you'll be all set!!!!!"

Still wondering what's in store for 101.5FM (and 99.1FM) ... simulcast of 107.7FM? Active Rock competitor??

Comments from the new 104.9 The Hawk Facebook page ...

Rob XXXXXX:The Hawk ROCKS! What will become of "Frank FM"? Will they still be on 99.1 FM? What's taking the 101.5 spot?

104.9 The Hawk: Don't have all the answers yet.

I wonder what Great Eastern's plan is ... the suspense is killing me.

I Bet Frank FM Will Be A Thing Of The Past. After All You Can Still Get 107.5 In The Lakes Region And 106.3 In Concord. Maybe The Hawk Will Go Back To Classic Rock (I Haven't Listened Much Since They Flipped To Mainstream Rock It Sounds To Simular To Rock 101 And WHEB). I Can't See Them Changing 98.3 Or 105.5 Since There Doing Well In The Ratings. Maybe They Might Put Frank On 93.3 Since There Is Already 3 Country Stations In The Area. I Like The Wolf A Lot But Sadly Thats The Only Station That I Could Picture Them Flipping.

Frank will go the way of the doe-doe bird on 99.1 He can't use it. Nassau holds the IP rights. I'm betting a simulcast of 107.7 on 101.5 and a hybrid classic rock/hits format on 99.1. 102.3 I still say goes all sports. He's got them in the UV and Keene.
Where is the biggest share to be had? What's the biggest format hole? Classic rock/hits...Oldies... Sports... Classical (He won't because he likes Harry K too much)... Jazz (too niche)... Religious...
Also, when is he taking over? Nassau already moved NHW up to gilford, JYY can't be far behind and FNQ is a mystery where that is going but I've heard south to Merrimack or Nashua. At this pace they'll be out of hooksett by November 1st.

I don't think that's why Jeff doesn't do classical. You forget WCRB just down the road. Personally I am rooting for the WEEI network. Doing ESPN or Fox Sports would be a waste IMO.

To me, it seems like they already just about have gone back to classic rock, and it happened a few months ago. When I've been in range, they very rarely/if ever play new/hard rock songs. Their music almost completely overlaps with Frank, which seems to play Collective Soul songs from the 90s just about every time I tune in.

They have classic hits (soft classic rock) Hawks elsewhere.

And why would running The Pulse on 101.5 be a good idea?

JYY will be moving to Gilford very soon-- WFNQ is moving to Nashua and must be out by 12/31.

WTPL is moving out of Bow to Hooksett to be with WWHQ, WNNH and WWHK it sounds like.

This will leave one empty air studio. Perhaps this will be turned in to a prod studio? or maybe just a closet if everything is ripped out.

Somehow WTPL has to be out of their current leased space before the end of the year. Could an LMA be in the making soon? Can Nassau be out of Hooksett before then?

Nassau doesn't have a choice. But Yes, they will be ready.

Dirk and his crew are very hard workers and will get everything done.

Nassau's corporate engineer also knows his stuff and works equally as hard-- I'm sure he will come up to NH along with an engineer from MA or ME if needed.

Seriously, is there anyone left in the engineering department locally besides Dirk? They fired a couple of guys in other markets including NH last year and that left Dirk by himself. I don't think there is anyone left in Maine or VT! There is no help coming from corporate or other markets. Good luck getting this done by Nov 1st! Maybe they'll hire some contract people. I guess you're right about not having a choice. Still nothing at the commission. What's holding this up?

RE: splicer 38...

Dirk's assistant is Ron LeRoux (Engineering and IT). Plus someone from Jersey can fly up to help.

Ron Leroux was a WLNH On Air guy, then Afternoons on BIG 101.5 (WBHG) with Sconnix. He went into IT and Engineering when Nassau took over.

I've heard Shapiro gave notice on his 107.7fm lease back in June and it's up Nov 1st. I guess he can go month to month until he moves to Hooksett but I can understand his desire for a quick closing or at the least LMA.

The Hawk is now running commercial saying the The Hawk is flying north to 104.9 on November 4th. I feel bad that such a great station is getting there signal downgraded from 6,000 watts to 500 watts. The new 104.9 signal barely makes it to Concord while the 101.5 signal can be heard in Southern Massachusetts on a good radio.

I wonder how much of WLKZ's poorer signal south of the LR has to do with co-channel interference from North Shore 104.9 in Beverly/Gloucester? WWHQ's nearest co-channel is much further away I think.

I live in SE Mass, and have a APS-13 antenna, and have only heard WWHQ 2-3 times. All of those times, WWBB was off the air. You must mean northern MA? I doubt they even make it that far very often. WWBB Providence usually dominates the freq until just south of Manchester.

Also, power has nothing to do with it. 104.9 has much higher height above average terrain than 101.5, therefore they don't need to run as much power to have basically the same amount of coverage.
