Does anyone know what is up and running for HD radio in the Providence Market? Or even the Boston Market? I recall B101 was broadcasting the same programming, and I remember a press release from Entercom stating they were going to be airing "Live Rock" on HD around 103.7. Anything yet? I work in radio, so if you're planning to tell me to go buy an HD radio and play around... it's not in my budget. Nor is food.

I don't know what's up & running as I won't pay for radio but I had posted some info from Andy Smith's column last spring. It's at the bottom of page 12 of the Providence board postings, but it may be on page 13 by the time you read it. At that time, HD choices were modern rock on HJY, comedy on B101, disco/dance on Coast, classical on WHJJ, & concert rock on WEEI. Funny but a couple of weeks ago while scanning I heard Crazy by Gnarls Barkley on B101 & thought "What the hell are they doing now? Kenny will have a stroke" but it was a HD spot.

As far as the food, go for trade-outs.

The comedy channel on B101 is pretty good, although their audio level is lower than on their main channel.

Right now, there's a lot more variety in Boston, though. Most of the major players are up and running with their HD-2's.
