The Huge Talent Of Danny Gans

Earlier this month Danny Gans died suddenly after collapsing at home....Impressionist Extrodinaire, he did many of the voices that we discuss here, his talent was huge, he was called (rightfully So) "The man of 1,000 voices". He is the only Impressionist That I ever saw, that did duets.....Nat And Nathalie Cole at the same Time, Elvis and his Son in Law Michael Jackson at the same time, Henry Fonda and Kathryn Hepburn at the same Time. He did so many, and so fast, that you couldn't keep up with him. I caught him twice SRO at the Strosphere.. before the bidding war began which took him to the Rio then the Bellagio, if I am not mistaken. He was truly amazing, it's hard to describe how good he really was. I had the pleasure of Interviewing Rich Little, and I brought up the name Danny Gans....and Rick Little said to me that "he was not in the same league with Danny Gans". He also added that "we all have our specialty...But Danny Gans Did It All, Sing , Dance, Voices, a complete package". That is a heck of a compliment coming from the guy who up to then was considered the best of all time. Ditto on my part.

Danny Gans was great. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the Rio & the Mirage.
Have results of his autopsy been released yet? Last I heard they were suppose to take less than a month.

Mirage yes.....I thought the Bellagio. The reports on not back, some rumors of Steroid use, he was a pro baseball player for a while and we know what they like to do,these rumors are founded on speculation of radical changes in his physical appearance of late??? I always thought of Manny Ramirez as "Sampson" with long locks and the monster hitting...as It turns out we find "Delilah" may have been more appropriate, since he was injecting female hormones, instead of testosterone.

Hey, who knows, what will turn up.........what we do know is the magnitude of the Loss of Danny Gans. This is how clever he was, he did his Sammy Davis Jr and Michael Jackson routine, behind a backlit silhoutte screen for greater effect, and was stunning. He was not only a master Impressionist but a master Illussionist and proved it with the aforementioned Davis and Michael routine, hidden behind that screen you forgot it was a white man Imitating a black man, all you saw was the silhouette and his talent took care of the rest. As Rick Little said "a complete package", he could dance like Astair, Sing Like Sinatra, and recite like Hepburn, there were no limits.

He was an amazing talent who cannot ever be replaced.
