The Hypocracy of CBS and MSNBC Makes Me Sick

Days after Don Imus was fired MSNBC spent the rest of the week discussing Imus on Hardball, Tucker Carlson, and the other worthless talk programs featured on that network. Each show seemed to feature the same group of “experts.” So here is my question, if NBC news found Imus so despicable why then beat a dead horse? Could it be that that MSNBC was trying to garner more ratings? The guy is off your network, move on to other stories. CBS is the biggest hypocrite. They fire Imus for racist remarks yet the parent company of CBS also owns MTV, which gives rap artists a forum to denigrate women. Is anything done about that? Nope. Finally having Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson lead the parade calling Imus a racist is like having Dracula as a security guard at the Red Cross Blood Bank. Both of those men have made comments over the years demeaning people, especially Sharpton who was quick to rush to judgment against the prosecutor in the Tawana Brawley case; a case where a woman falsely accused people of sexually attacking her, only later proven she was lying. Did Sharpton ever apologize to the prosecutor in the case? No. Did Jackson ever apologize to New York City residents for the Hymietown comment? No. Yet these men not only wanted an apology from Don Imus, they wanted him fired. As far as I am concerned the Imus story is now history. His critics got their pound of flesh. He’s out of a job, as are the people associated with the show. Meanwhile Jackson and Sharpton will continue to appear on the Sunday morning talk shows and make millions of dollars, doing what I have no idea. Accountability is a two-way street. If people in this country want an open dialog on race relations then let’s send a new group of representatives into the game. I saw a number of enlighten people appear on TV after the Imus incident first broke who actually were intelligent and not seeking the public spotlight, or promoting their own agendas, like Sharpton and Jackson.

"Could it be that that MSNBC was trying to garner more ratings?"

Well, duh...as the saying goes. It's been said before, but the problem with the heavy competition for cable news viewers is that they're all afraid NOT to chase the same "big" story - especially in an otherwise slow news week, a story like Imus becomes the BIG story. Look at the Anna Nicole Smith story. Frankly, the only thing more irritating that the constant coverage itself, were the anchors - especially Anderson Cooper - denouncing the constant coverage right before reading the latest Anna Nicole update. He'd tease it by saying "When we come back, I'll have the latest Anna Nicole Smith news...if you care"

Nancy Grace is just as bad with the Anna Nicole Smith story on her show on Headline News as you watch it at 10:00 PM Central at night, all you have seen since Anna's death is the coverage about her, Howard K. Stern, Dani Lynn's father wanting her, Anna Nicole's mother wanting Dani Lynn, etc. Might as well call it "The Anna Nicole Smith Show with Nancy Grace" since she totally makes it look like it is the Marilyn Monroe Story all over again even though it has been 45 years since Marilyn Monroe passed away under the same circumstances except a child wasn't involved then nor was it coveraged by the main networks like the tabloid talk shows have run it to the ground now.

CBS and MTV are NOT co-owned anymore

As of January 2006, CBS and Viacom are seperate companies. CBS is owned by CBS Corporation, while MTV is owned by the new Viacom.

Viacom also owns BET, which gives substansial amounts of air time to rappers who like sliding credit cards down the buttocks of women. I think these channels should set an example. I wonder if employees of BET or MTV will speak out publicly about the crap that airs over those channels (NBC employees speaking out got Imus off of MSNBC).
