The I-Man silenced again

I will never claim to understand what goes through the minds of the powers that be at KFNX, but this latest morning show switch demonstrates a lack of thought. Replacing an intelligent, balanced, entertaining Don Imus with another narrow-minded, broken record rightwing cheerleader?

Imus has a 40-year track record and guests no one else can touch. Beyond that, he is the only national host with strong ties to Arizona: he attended Scottsdale HS, served time in the Maricopa County juvenile justice system, mined uranium near the Grand Canyon and worked for the Santa Fe Railway in Kingman.

His on-again/off-again presence on the Phoenix airwaves is extremely frustrating.

Not replaced, but moved to more or less the graveyard timeslot.
(Didn't that used to be overnighter Heavy Early? ;D)

Imus now airs 3-6am, so unless you're close to the county dump
on Carefree Highway, you may have trouble picking it up.

3-6a. That's live.

Well, it would be if it weren't Imus...

....zzzzz Oh, you're right! The I-Man has never had much of a following in the Valley. Laura Ingraham is a much better fit in AMD and at least has a fan base. But then again, we are talking about being on KFNX aren't we?

I love Imus in the Morning....leaves me in much better mood for the day than listening to Jacobs. So when I woke up at 5 this morning, I thought, here was my chance. But dead air at 1100 (Bill Bennett was leaking through from Grand Junction, CO). After waiting 10 minutes, I gave up, but checked back now and then. Somewhere between 5:40 and 5:50 they seemed to have found the power switch and Imus was on the air. Only problem, it was a re-run of Friday's show.

Like somebody said, he gets good guests, and know's how to make the interviews entertaining. Too bad somebody local doesn't grab the show and give it a good time slot. In the meantime, I will be listening to his show on line...... www.imus.com which is on from 2 a.m. to 11 a.m. (?)(can't verify the ending time at the moment).

Laura Ingraham has been a guest on the Imus show, as is very entertaining. She says some on-the-edge things I don't think she would dare say on her own show. But I don't want to hear her everyday.
