The insanity that is . . . The September Ratings

https://ratings.****************/content/arb024

Mix 102.9 SECOND in the market.

The Spot tanks.

KERA still fueled up.

Is the morning show fueling Mix? What happened there?

Not a local to the market — hell, never even been to DFW… but I can say for certain we do know that morning shows will bolster ratings pretty hard. In fact I believe I read into other places on this forum that a large % of listening is done entirely within that morning show block.

if the Eagle has quit playing Pink Floyd and Queen, then they need to stop playing anything from before 2000 and start being a 2000s, 2010s & 2020s only Rock station and leave things from before 2000 on Lone Star 92.5 KZPS.

I agree with you 100%, The Eagle needs to realize that their newer music selection is very questionable for active rock. I looked at other iHeart active rockers (WJRR in Orlando, KDJE in Little Rock, and KNCN in Corpus Christi as examples) and their mix of 2000s-2020s rock songs blend in with the occasional 90s and before thrown in. Newer rock artists like Bad Omens, Dorothy, Wage War, Hardy, and Badflower were present as well as newer songs from A Day To Remember, Pop Evil, Black Veil Brides and even Sum 41's "Landmines." The Eagle's selection of new music isn't any of them but instead Twenty-One Pilots and Imagine Dragons are spinning there with the same tiring classic songs that makes The Eagle think they're The Edge trying to be Alt with Ozzy and Metallica thrown in. As a matter of fact, I feel that DFW rock radio is becoming like San Antonio's with Cox owning 99.5 KISS with a similar playlist of The Eagle (and has been for over a decade) and 106.7 The Eagle with a similar playlist like Lone Star's.

And note that NO OTHER iHeart active/mainstream rockers are playing Twenty-One Pilots and Imagine Dragons!

They really don't focus on "newer music." They have five currents, led by Shinedown. The majority of their playlist is 90s and 2000s. Yes they also play some 80s and the occasional 70s. They're not going to be as new as the other stations you list. They're also not going to be as old as WMMS, WCHI, or some of the other iHeart rockers. As I said a while back, they are an edgier version of Lone Star. If that station is too old for you, then try the Eagle. They're programmed by the same guy. If you want current rock, you're probably happier with one of the non-coms.
