So Edd Hall and Branford Marsalis will be part of the 10pm show? Edd as Announcer and Branford as Band Leader? Kevin Eubanks cut and John Melendez fired?!
 
Never figured out what Melendez added to the show but Eubanks was both the music director, band leader and comic foil for Jay for a long time. Why they would replace him with a pure musician is beyond me (unless maybe it was his choice and he's going for a new gig when his run on Leno ends).

Is that really true? I havent read that anywhere although, granted, I don't pay much attention to Jay Leno. Why would Marsalis want to go back to the tv grind, whether it be prime time or late night? He hated it so much, he was never able to play his own music style, which is why he left in the first place or that's what I've read in the past.

Branford Marsalis was The Tonight Show music director from 1992-1995, when Kevin Eubanks replaced him. Ed Hall was the Tonight Show announcer from 1992-2006.

Where is the source? Until verified, this is only rumor and speculation. Personally, I think Kevin will be a part of the new show. I don't know about John Melendez.

Keep in mind...Jay's new show will be an entirely seperate production from "The Tonight Show".
 
Edd Hall was a good announcer. Thinking back, he probably regrets giving up the tonight show gig.
 
Eubanks has been confirmed as keeoing his job on the new show. Not sure where you got Branford Marsalis, he didn't exactly part on great terms when he left in 95.
