The Jonas Bros. Bomb at the Box Office!

Maybe there is a god! ;D Though their movie was anticipated to garner between $30 and $40 million dollars for Disney, in actuality it only garnered a meager $12.7 million, and to add insult to injury, it did not even secure the #1 spot for the first weekend of its release! Does this abysmal performance suggest that the days are numbered for this erstwhile tween phenomenon?

Maybe the projections were to make 30-40 million in total after its run of consecutive weeks in theaters, not in the 1st week.

No, the movie was projected to gross the 30-40 million on the opening weekend. And incidentally, the soundtrack to the movie has been reported to have fallen well below sales expectations as well. I think their 15 minutes of fame has about expired!

I guess Disney made those projections because that is about the amount High School Musical 3 made in its debut weekend and thought the same crowd that saw HSM3 would see Jonas Bros. 3-D.

Regardless of box office numbers, I agree that they have peaked. Even Hanson had more adult appeal that they have. None of the their songs have cracked the CHR top 10 despite huge phones from teens/tweens. Too much of a history of singles that get great phones for a month or two, but with bad callout and disappear from CHR. I guess they will always have Radio Disney ;D
