In Louisville, WHAS radio and TV were spilt long ago: the Bingham
family owned the two daily newspapers, the CBS TV affiliate, a
50kw clear-channel AM, and a 100kw class-c FM. When Mr. Bingham's
kids began to fight among themselves as to who got what when the
old man died, he sold everything! WHAS-AM and WHAS-TV went to different
buyers, but each kept their calls. I remember seeing occasional ownership
disclaimers on the TV side during IDs...but don't know of any regulation
that would have required it.
