The Kimmer

Bye bye, Kimmer

Long time local host or not, I'm a big Dave Ramsey fan, and could never get into the Kimmer's show. I hope Dave's show finds an audience among his 3 million listeners.

Dave will do well here in Atlanta. This country sorely lacks any kind of formal instruction preparing students how to wisely handle their money and make profitable investments for their future in public schools. Really, folks want the government to handle everything for them, yet government has proven that it is not the best at executing very much of anything relating to social services. Unfortunately, many parents are in over their heads and do not know how to educate their children in the ways of sound finance either. Three million listeners prove my point.

Personally, I find listening to the financial pain and misery of others very depressing.

Re: Bye bye, Kimmer

No, 3 million listeners like listening to a radio program because they find it entertaining.

There's a lack of education of classic literature, but I doubt readings of Shakespeare or western philosophers would get great ratings.

Re: Looks like The Kimmer and Denny are also out!

No, it's a taste of what stations with no listeners will be treated to.

As sad as the firing of the news staff at WRKO/Boston was last week, nobody listens to that station either, and the emphasis is right-wing talk, not news, which is 350kHz away on WBZ.

Another failed area for education to focus on . . . . As for the three million listeners, these are the same kind of folks that watch day time television court, soaps, and Opralike programs. It is much easier to turn on the television or radio for this type of programming than to sit with a book and tax the mind and imagination. Right?

Re: Bye bye, Kimmer

I will miss Kimmer...I am sure he will land somewhere else (maybe not Atlanta but he'll be okay). I think Ramsey will be a good fit...the Ramsey versus Clark Howard battle will be interesting to watch. I don't expect him to ever beat Howard but he should cut into his share I would think.

Farewell you knuckle dragging, tobacco spitting, redneck! Stick that in your Semper Fi and smoke it!

Feel better now?

Re: Looks like The Kimmer and Denny are also out!

Just to clarify...

WRKO is owned by Entercom, not Clear Channel.

Re: The Kimmer

Yes, WRKO and WGST are not co-owned, but cuts are a plenty this holiday season regardless of ownership.

It's an interesting point that the best station with political talk in early fringe PMD (3-4pm) will be WGKA.
