The KLSU Tapes

Greetings from Houston. Four years ago I stumbled upon some tapes at a Goodwill that were recordings of LSU's college radio station KLSU from 1984, 85 and 86. These aren't airckecks; someone just loaded a tape, hit record and let it roll till the end of the tape (they had auto-reverse), capturing music, news, weather and spots. Now I'm just wondering if anyone knows the origns of these tapes. The only thing I could find was an inscription:
Fizz,
I just put this tape on one day and left it on record. Knew you'd be interested
in some "new tunes." Hope you enjoy it.
Perce,
Stan B (I believe that's the signature)

This might have been some college students, or perhaps one of the DJs that worked there. Any info would be great. Thanks.

sdh483, the tapes you "stumbled" upon are in fact airchecks. When a tape is not stopped while it is recording a radio station or program it is called an "unscoped" aircheck.

Sounds to me like someone just wanted a friend of theirs to hear the music this station played but didn't have time to stop and start the tape every time the dj said something or the news came on.
