The last day for the current 1500 WASN-AM

WASN is for sale at 75K.

Seems like a bit much for a day timer with critical hours. You got a good deal for 1540 and 1570 at 25,000 a piece. But from what I heard, there is a lot of interest on both of them. The funny thing is the transmitter is near Mckelvey lake on the east side which would make a good spot for other uses if they ever decide to develop the land.

Another interesting market tidbit, is that WBBW dropped ESPN and went with the new CBS Sports Network. I hadn't seen them on the list to switch, but it happened.

That was a corporate deal between cumulus and CBS. All stations owned by the two switched to the new network. Since Youngstown is considered a "small" market, that is why it was not in any press release.

Which now ask's who will run ESPN in Youngstown?

According to the FCC it signed on May 9, 1976 as WGFT-AM. It is funny for most of its life until it became under atty. Percey Squire's stop 26 riverbed, it was not even really known outside of Youngstown as for most of its life it was a gospel station even though it started out in the beginning briefly as a rock station. When stop 26 brought it he began to advertise it and started what would become Youngstown's first spanish format then when bernard came it first made it a gospel station and the a urban talk station which for a brief time a couple of years a station I had a show on.
