Khof-fm
I have read the thread regarding when, or if, KHOF-FM went to stereo. I thought I would try to clear up any confusion.
I was the Assistant Chief Engineer at KHOF. I was there from 1971 to 1977. We indeed converted KHOF-FM to stereo in the mid 1970's. I assisted in that project and remember when we had the stereo pair installed by Telco. Up until then we used a mono channel on the TV microwave. The project was initiated by the Program Director of KHOF-FM. The Chief Engineer and several of the engineering staff worked to make it happen. This was well before Dr. Scott became Pastor.
I left KHOF in 1977. Now, as to what Dr. Scott did with stereo on KHOF-FM after I left, I don't know. He may have turned off stereo and reverted to mono. Of course, none of the VTR's at that time had stereo capability and they mixed his program in mono. I know as a fact that the Telco loop from the Broadway studio to the KHOF-FM studio was mono, so transmitting in stereo was somewhat a moot point other than lighting the stereo pilot light. The only stereo capability we had were the turntables and maybe a few recorders at KHOF-FM. They were the source of stereo programming at that time.
You can learn a little more about it by going to this page and look towards the bottom of the "Fading Out" heading. http://fbn.faithbroadcastingnetwork.info/pgm_delivery.html
I hope this helps.

You are full of it KM. KHOF and Doctor Gene Scott were mono way into the 80's, same with KMAX and I'm glad someone brought up KBOB as well. Please don't PM me anymore, nor attempt to write me at my personal email again, ok?
