The Last Samurai at WPOW !

Whats going on over at WPOW - Power96 ? Can you believe how theyve cleaned house over there ? EddieMix and DJ Laz are the last Samurai's ! All these changes and not for the better ... the stations ratings are hurting and looks like ClearChannel might finally beat Beasley with WHYI running on all cylinders.

Power sounds like Y did years ago ... has no definition about them. I think I heard a Kelly Clarkson song and Avril Levine ? Thats not Power music ??? Besides their jocks.... Their Miami / Latin flavor has lost its Lust.

I am a Miami Native and love this town... I grew up listening to Power 96 live at Six Flags ...

Is it me or .... werent the Power Mix Weekends Amazing ????

I do know that Tony the Tiger is still there with the PD duty, but I agree with you. I hate to say it but I've always heard payola rumors around him, but Kid Curry really did keep things working at Power. He was there from the start of the station in '86.

He ran the station and always had a knack of finding some pretty good talent and the music was always ahead of the other stations, like they always moved to their own beat.

They have gone the econonmic route by bringing younger talent with no credentials when they came in (Lucy Lopez, Baby Bree, JP) They have had time to get better on the air, but it doesn't sound very good.

I think Power should return Laz back to PM drive and bring in a new morning show. JP needs to grow, but I think he can get better, as for the females they are annoying and have no voices for radio.

I'll second that! When he left, it all went downhill. I've got the stream bookmarked, but I can barely stand to listen to it anymore. It's insanely all over the place, and the jocks aside from Laz are just... I can't even put a word to it, that's how bad they are. I'm a gringo that doesn't sound "street" in the least, and I could do better at Power. It's gotten so bad that I tear up when I force myself to listen.

You want to fix Power? I'll give Beasley the ten simple steps to do it... if they hire me. :D

Six Flags????

There's no Six Flags anywhere near Miami! You must be thinking about the Youth Fair!

Six Flags Atlantis used to be where Oakwood Plaza now sits in Hollywood. I vaguely remember Power being there live a few times during the summer of 19-eighty-whatever. I spent many a day there when i was little, though i never had the guts to ride the Thunderbolt slide.

With all the respect .....

People reply to the post and dont even bother to do research.

Six Flags was a Miami/ Ft Lauderdale landmark. It was shut due to south floridians doing what we do best.... get bored and move on(sports teams, resturants, etc). Yes, power did alot during the summers... actually DJ Laz when he came over from Hot105 did it at a Six Flags "power 96" concert.
