The posts here are good starts. If you want to dig deeper, The University of Mississippi was the recipient of his personal collection or that was the intent as I remember. How that was conserved I don’t know or recall.
There is a book written by Wes Smith entitled "The Pied Pipers of Rock 'n' Roll: Radio deejays of the 50s and 60s" that has a chapter devoted to John R. There are several pics.
I found it for $1 at a dollar store.
Lots of other legendary DJs are included in the book.
For a good printed resource on Nashville radio keep an eye out for Lee Dorman's upcoming book with lots of stories from WSM, WKDA, WMAK and WLAC-AM and KDF...Don't have the actual release date but the book I understand is finished.
