99.3 is no longer Lite-Fm! It's running Continuous Country Christmas Music through Christmas Day, Then on December 26th it becomes a simulcast of 107.3 WRWD. Seems like country is well coverered in Western Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties. Country will be available at 96.7, 95.9, 97.3, 99.3, 102.1 & 107.3, not to mention 1370AM.

Does 99.3 FM stream online ? Do they have a website ?

Is this the next "Thunder Country"? WRWD is going to be on 99.3 after Christmas. This is also a waste than Cumulus' "The Wolf" which is at 94.3 and 97.3. Now, we got 4 country stations. Is WRWD-AM would be still at 1370?

We do not need another country station!!! It's bad enough "The Wolf" is still around. It was only a matter of time before the Lite cluster was broken up, but not for this. Hopefully this is a temporary move anyway. Once the CC stations start getting divided up, it could flip or become a simulcast of something else.

It used to be an invasion of AC stations, but now it's country.

Here in North Jersey, I can receive 94.3 FM, 96.1 FM (from Pennsylvania) 96.7 FM, 97.3 FM, 99.3 FM, and 107.3 FM. They're all country stations too!

:-\

The Hudson Valley was an area full of Oldies stations then AC and now it's going towards Country.

WRWD 107.3 covers most of what 99.3 covers so what is the point in it? Why not simulcast 92.9 on 99.3 which IMO would make more sense.

Why did CC in the first place stop KISSFM on 99.3? KISSFM was doing great in the ratings even beating K104 if I remember correctly.

Back in February 2005, Kiss-FM was geared toward urban leaning. In the first place, they stunt as "Cupid 99.3" and then the simulcast of "Lite-FM" on 99.3. That didn't last long where they used to have three Lite-FM's in the format, 92.1, 99.3 and 98.5. I don't see 98.5 flipping to something else anytime soon, but 99.3 had already dropped "Lite-FM" for a stunting of Christmas country music all month long until after Christmas, WRWD is going to be simulcast on 99.3. It's great to hear the return of country music format to 99.3 when it was originally called "Thunder Country".

Back last winter, K-104 beat Kiss-FM in the ratings, but in the spring, they tied, can't wait for the winter ratings to come out.

From Allaccess.com:

CLEAR CHANNEL AC WFKP (LITE-FM)/ELLENVILLE-MIDDLETOWN, NY (ORANGE COUNTY) flipped to "Continuous Country Holiday Favorites" at midnight (ET) this morning (11/22) under the direction of OM DAVE McCORD. The station, located at 99.3 FM, will play holiday music through CHRISTMAS and will then begin simulcasting with Country sister WRWD/POUGHKEEPSIE, which is located at 107.3 FM. The move will bolster WRWD's signal coverage across the market.

CC Market Manager BOB DUNPHY said: “WRWD is the HUDSON VALLEY's heritage Country music station, and we are excited to broaden the reach of our programming to these communities. Now listeners in ORANGE, ULSTER and SULLIVAN Counties, can enjoy WRWD’s great music and personalities and benefit from the news, information and community service that has made them a leader not only in the HUDSON VALLEY, but in Country radio in general."

I agree that they should have left Kiss on 99.3. Here in Ulster County, I can receive both 96.1 and 99.3, but 99.3 in many places comes in stronger and with less static. I would almost always put on 99.3 when I wanted to hear Kiss.

WFKP Is Now WRWC

As I was listening to Christmas music on 99.3, during the top of the hour, a voiceover came out of the microphone and says "Your continuous country christmas music is on Country 99.3, WRWC, Ellenville, Middletown, Kingston". That's one liner came in during the TOH. WFKP is now WRWC. Thanks to Cheap Channel for the call letter change.

What's wrong with a call letter change?

Derek, it's pointless to explain anything to Disney. The fact that he thinks Harry Harrison will come do oldies on 92.9 for small market money tells all you need to know.

That would be my prediction for 2007. I don't know how long Rick McCaffery would continue to do mornings on 92.9. I hope they should bring a few more former CBS-FM jocks to the Hudson Valley. Randy Davis is at WNEW in New York City and let's hope they should hire some more on-air talent to 92.9 including on weekends. Let's see if they could work it out. I love Rick when he is still hosting the "Solid Gold Jukebox" on Friday nights instead of weekday mornings.

Ok, since Disney rambles on about pointless, aimless stuff with no merit...here goes...

92.1...Joe Daily continues his 'Radio for the Dull and Lifeless' and meteorologist Mike Spiel takes some voice lessons. Lou Brown finally gets a big city offer out of the market and moves on.

92.9...Buh bye Oldies...24 hours a day of birds. Just birds chirping. Cats all over the Hudson Valley will love it.

93.3...Mark Bolger retires and moves to Florida and turns the show over to Kimberly Kay. She marries Jimmy Jamz in the Poughkeepsie Galleria and they run off to their honeymoon with listeners on a beach in Aruba...for the Fall book, she gets divorced and listeners get to vote on the website who her divorce attorney should be and how much alimony she should get. (oh, wait...wasn't this done already???)

94.3...After many, many facelifts the Wolf morphs into a hybrid mix of AC, country, hip hop and oldies...Billy Joel, Keith Urban, Fiddy Cent and Chuck Barry...all in one station. Instead of being called Jack, Cumulus calls it 'Mark' thinking they are so clever and it's on the 'Mark'. Keep in mind it takes a whole group of suits making big $ in Atlanta to come up with this.

Mix 97.7...Miller gets elected as Mayor of Poughkeepsie. His first order of business hiring some psychic to help him run things. Oh and who's doing mornings on Mix? Who cares? Does it really matter?

WPDH...Coop & Tobin bail in the middle of the night after being tipped off that Benfer was wielding his grim reaper. Karlson & McKenzie come crawling back (haha) because they suddenly found their 'missing' contract and felt it was the right thing to live up to their obligations to the great Benfer. They offer him a full apology and offer to work out their contract for free.

K104 becomes AC...because you know we need another one of those here in the Hudson Valley. K-Fest will now be a concert of aging has-beens wearing Dockers and boat shoes...Paul Simon, The Temptations and Kenny Loggins.

WRWD...They move back to their roots on route 299. After all, country music is about suffering and any country music station worth it's wait in gold should be suffering in a small shack with limited heat and the sales department in an old kitchen.

** This is all just in fun, so please just take it for what it is...a joke!!**
