The Lite is out at 102.9

Looks like Lite102.9 in Greenville is now a Spanish format. I'm not sure when it happened but now there are 3 spanish stations, 102.9, 103.9 and 96.9/1070.

So still two Spanish stations but sounds like this was done to cover the market more fully.

I forgot that WCSZ 1070 is on 94.9, not 96.9. So Lite goes to 96.9 and gets a bit of a boost....signal at 96.9 is better than 102.9 even though they are comparable. So there'll be 94.9, 102.9, and 103.9 broadcasting Spanish. 94.9 and 102.9 both best cover the part of the county where the Spanish speaking audience is most concentrated in the market. Its a shame Salem couldn't purchase 103.9 and reunite the two 103 frequencies since 103.3 was created to fill in the gaps left by 103.9 25 years ago when 103.9 had an urban format. 95.9 helps EARTHFM in Pickens and Anderson cos. but theres still a gap in western and southwestern Gvl county where 103.3 starts to have issues before 95.9 starts coming in well....

I used to listen to 102.9 the Lake from Charlotte before the 102.9 in Greenville signed on. I liked their variety hits format. Another problem with LPFM interfering with distant reception of full power stations. Its worse in Spartanburg County, as WLKO used to come in strong and clear, and now the WGTK station causes mutual interference in the southern part of the county from both signals. I could previously get WLKO clear on my home radio with rabbit ears antenna in Mauldin, including the HD locked in. Now I have to work to adjust the rabbit ears to null out WGTK on 102.9.
