The "litle Ticket" geting larger?

KTCK has filed a minor change to an application they filed back in November to address some issues requested by the FCC. The application asks for an increase in their daytime power from 9,000 to 25,000 watts using the existing site and pattern. While I wouldn't call this spectacular it's nevertheless a substantial upgrade, expanding their coverage by a little under 30 miles: https://licensing.fcc.gov/cdbs/CDBS...?appn=101355479&qnum=5110&copynum=1&exhcnum=2

Unfortunately the 5,000 watt nighttime pattern will still be problematic with that wicked null over Collin County. I'm wondering if two-site operation would be feasible, something that would fill in that area at night, even at the expense of some of Tarrant County.

Let us remember though that as we have discussed 93.3 has 50 KW while everyone else has 100,000. Could they file an app to increase 104.1 or move that transmitter closer to the metro area?

Isnt 1310 AM, 1700 AM, 104.1 FM, and 99.5 HD-2 Enough?

Why on earth would they want to go and put it on a 5TH station?

My bad I forgot abput 104.1... I had not had my coffee yet - cut me some slack. ;) I do remeber when Merge 93.3 was also on 104.1.

104.1 is already maxed out and basically locked into the site they're using. That's because of second-adjacent stations KVIL and KKDA-FM as well as co-channel KKUS Tyler.

Don't forget co-channel KWOW in Clifton.

Why not use 93.3??? It's never going to amount to anything as a music station obviously.
I wouldn't be to sure about that.

Sure they're at a 1.2 while KISS has a 6.5 (6+) but how closely have you looked at those numbers? Because KLIF-FM has a cume of 564K. Sure it sucks compared to KISS's 1.6 million, but that station has been on the air for less than 6 months IIRC, they've had little to no real marketing (what a billboard or two?) they don't have a morning show, etc etc.

So they 'only' have a cume of 564K. Do you realize that that is more than WBAP, KSOC and KRNB, more than both KRLD AM and FM? They just need to increase TSL.

And realistically, look at KTCK's billing. They're usually in the top 5 billing stations in the market. Do you really think that having KTCK on ANOTHER signal is going to help them that much? Dunham and Miller are already the #1 morning show in the market. (not just men, but overall #1, IIRC) How is putting them on another signal going to help them get better than #1?
