THE LONGEST RUNNING ROCK STATIONS OF TODAY!

WEBN in Cincinnati is THE longest running rock station and it has been around since the Summer of 1967! KSHE in St. Louis is the second longest running rock station and it first came on the air about a month or two after WEBN signed on with their legendary format. What do you think is now the 10 longest (or perhaps even the 20 longest) running rock stations that are still on the air today? All fans can now reply! LONG LIVE WBCN!

If I remember correctly, WEBN started out as a Classical/Jazz outlet that had an "underground" show on at night called "Jelly Pudding". I have no idea when WEBN went full time to the Rock format. Some other ones with longevity include:

1) KSHE - St Louis (which you mentioned)
2) WMMR - Philadelphia (late 60's and still AOR)
3) KQRS - Minneapolis/St Paul (now pretty much Classic Rock
4) KLOS - Los Angeles (1969 and now Classic Rock
5) WAAF - Boston area (they have been Rock since the late 60's or early 70's, but I think they may have gone off the rock reservation once or twice in the 70's.
6) WRIF - Detroit - Still AOR (circa 1970)
7) WDVE - Pittsburgh - primarily Classic Rock these days but they have late 60's/early 70's heritage.
8) KISS - San Antonio (Rock from 1970 -1990; flipped to Oldies in 1990, returned to Rock in 1992)
9) KISW - Seattle - Rock since 1970
10) KDKB - Phoenix - Rock since 1971
11) KBPI - Denver - Rock since the early 70's (moved from 105.9 to 106.7 in 1994)
12) WMMS - Cleveland - They started out in the late 60's, but have ventured into Top 40 and Alternative during their tenure.

WGLF (Gulf 104) in Tallahassee, Fla. It's the longest-running rock station. Interestingly, they have had local
host Billy Hudson on with his Southern Gospel show on Sunday mornings for many years - the only deviation from the normal format.

They did some Top 40 stuff in the 70s. Mostly, however, they've been known as "The Rock Station..Gulf 104"

It was owned by the late Brody Timm for many years. Cumulus owns it now.

WCMF in Rochester, NY has to be on the list. They started in 1968 and are still going strong despite four or five ownership changes.

95.5 WBRU/Providence, which is now an alternative station, began as prog-rock in 1969. They're doing a lot of 40th anniversary stuff currently...

KEGL Dallas / Ft. Worth - they had a brief foray as lite rock, then Spanish language, but returned to their roots a couple of years back. Except for the interlude, they have been rock almost 30 years.

KATT/Oklahoma City is a long running one, I believe since the Mid-70s. I remember being shocked when I DXd them in Las Vegas in 1983, they were my first E-skip (back when I didn't know such a thing existed)

No love for KSAN?

They were Country for many years.

If a station switched formats and returned to rock they shouldn't qualify as "longest running". Although maybe I'm being too picky?

KFOG 104.5 San Francisco, sinse they 70s always were AOR, and still rockin' with a AAA format.
KRZR 103.7 Fresno
KZOZ 93.3 San Luis Obispo, they been rockin in the 70s and are still rockin' with "The Central Coast Classic" playing 70s and Beyond.

WWWV 97.5 Charlottesville, VA, also known as "3WV", I think I have heard it's been a rock station since the 70s and it still is.
