The Luck of the Irish is on Jack's Side

> One year later and Jack is still going strong.

I read somewhere that Variety Hits stations, if they have a strong start, will likely go for a year or two before the novelty wears off.

Weatherly is being smart to toss in "accent" songs that don't play all the time. That will keep the novelty aspect alive and offset the fact that a lot of the library does still repeat fairly often.<P ID="signature">______________

You're right. Another thing that Variety Hits stations will have to transition to (I'm sure you know KM) is jocks. Hopefully CBS Radio will start adding jocks at least by the end of the year, or until ratings start to slide a little. I guess it depends on the market. It shall be interesting!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Jack is a jukebox. Nothing is more anoying when listenting to a jukebox than someone yakking in the middle of the tunes. DJs would sabotage the concept.

If one doesn't like the concept that's fine, but suggestions that ruin the concept won't help and aren't necessary. By any measure Jack has been a huge success as is.

Of course it has been a major a success the way it is, but eventually that success will wear off. Successful Jack stations in Canada started out jockless, but then transitioned into jocks, and it is as better as ever. You can't stay as a jukebox with commercials forever on FM Radio. Thats my opinion.

In my humble opinion, it's not a question of if but when Jack LA will add jocks, at least for some dayparts. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least one personality added before 2006 is out.

And that one Personality should be...

The Founders son, young Jack. His style and the whole JIB thing is cool. Although he is known in 23 States, I consider him to be part of Southern California, and totally Hollywood!.
