The Max vs. RMH Radiothon

I hear that 98.1 The Max is running a two day contest Thursday and Friday in competition with Rock 103's Ronald McDonald House Radiothon - for those two days only, listen for the sound to win $98 to be given away each hour.... I hope everyone that DOES win donates it to Ronald McDonald House.

These guys are gonna compete 365 24/7. Whys should the 2 days when 103 does the RHM be any different?

If they were running their contest for a week, a month or whatever, I would agree with you but they're running it the two days of the Radiothon ONLY... to compete head to head, great! That's the American way - but to purposely try to steal an audience during a competitor's fundraiser just makes my stomach queasy... what ever happened to honor among thieves?

To quote a phrase Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles....."Can't you see this is the last act of a desparate man?" Not only is it very ill timed, it's just plain stupid. It's not going to bring them extra listeners and will have no impact at all on the RMH Radiothon. Indeed a strange move consindering that the Promotions Director at WXMX was one of the primary co-ordinators of the Radiothon on 103 for a number of years including last year. A big PR blunder

"I don't care if it's the first act of Henry V!"

Yes, the strategy was ill-conceived... to the Max. What it will bring them is embarrassment.
