The Michael Savage ego and infomercial

Now that Michael Savage has a new book out, his show... at least in the short term ... plays a bit like an infomercial. And, these infomercials also highlight his ego. He reads segments from his book and is not shy about telling us how good his writing is. His book apparently was the top seller at Amazon, and he pointed out what a feat that was seeing as he got what he said was no support from other media outlets. He relished knocking Bob Woodward and "The Leprechaun" (Bill O'Reilly) down the chart. Savage is often an over-the-top guy, and this shilling for his book is consistent with that.

I know most of his names for other radio talk show hosts ... (The golfer is Rush Limbaugh, the Wallbanger is Sean Hannity), but he's got a new one (at least to me). Who is "The Comedian"?

Probably not Al Franken.

You are correct. For Al Franken to be "the comedian", he would have had to be actually funny at some point in his career.

He is at No. 1 on Amazon's bestseller list.

Educated people who win awards and excel at what they do have earned the right to have an ego.

Everyone has a right to an ego. Savage's persecution complex reeks of "bit" though. He makes himself an "enemy" of other conservative hosts to differentiate his product from theirs. It seems to work in his case, so I say good for him.

Dennis Miller as "The Comedian" is a good call. Based on the comedy tour, Glenn Beck is in the running too. Savage has got to have a name for Beck, as he is clearly bigger then Miller. Doc Savage is like "Mikey" in that old cereal commercial ... "He hates everything."

It could also be Stephanie Miller. Anyone know how Savage feels about fart jokes?

I think he means Jon Stewart on the Comedy Channel. Stewart was number one before Savage knocked him down to 3 or 4 on Friday.

He has a new one The Bartender who I believe is Lou Dobbs. Funny as Dobbs really does look like an Irish bartender. Haha.

You have to hand it to the guy. He pumped up his book a lot and it did go right to the top in 5 days which is phenomenal like him or not.

Yeah it might be Jon Stewart, since he's been in the news more than Dennis Miller lately, and probably therefore more deserving of a nickname. :)

Glenn Beck was called "The hemmoroid with ears" by Savage.

So many listeners to Savage, and viewers to Fox News - thanks to the left they're number 1 in their respective genres.

I believe that was after Beck had a more than public Hemorrhoid operation. That was before he went to Fox. Apparently the surgery was botched according to Beck.
