The Mobile DJ Politician

Lico Reyes has an article about himself in Wikipedia. You can check it out at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lico_Reyes

Lico ran for U.S. Congress a couple of years ago as a Democrat.

If you'll read further down the page in the Wikipedia article, it contains the following two sentences. Taking credit for the Mobile DJ's that popped up during the Disco Fad of the 1970s kind of reminds me of the time Al Gore tried to take credit for inventing the Internet. Here's the sentence:

Lico is credited as founder of the Portable DJ industry in the USA by Dunn & Bradstreet, Positively Texas (CBS), the Underground shopper and Fort Worth Petroleum Club. This industry now employs tens of thousands of DJ's and stage hands and is a multi BILLION $ industry in America.

Please pay a visit to snopes.com before repeating that particular worn-out political fallacy. Al Gore never claimed to have invented the Internet, but did correctly claim responsibility for fostering it's development.

When Lico ran 4 years ago I really, REALLY didn't want to send Michael Burgess back to DC so he could push his "innovative highway financing" BS (it's a euphemism for taxpayer subsidized for-profit tollways) but Lico's answers to the Dallas Morning News candidate quiz were such a joke that I couldn't vote for him.

People are debating about Lico again today:

It's election eve, and it goes without saying that Lico is active in Democratic politics.

Some people have this saying, "Any publicity is good -- even if it's bad publicity."

I don't think that's true.

Lico's true life story is really one of rags to riches. As a child, he literally had to beg for pennies in the streets of Mexico, and went on decades later to be honored by the Democratic party to be one of the candidates for U.S. Congress.

I used to read press releases when I did the news, and I think that people are mistaking some of Lico's efforts to get legitimate press coverage in the news with publicity stunts.

Lico reyes is one massive side show snake oil salesman. His claim as the founder of mobile DJ's is so ludicrous. They had them as early as the late 40's at military bases and camps plus high school hops. Keep in mind the press sources that is mentioned were Lico's own press releases to them, somepaid for(Underground Shopper)His Spanish "Elvis" ispathetic (Elvis ala vez) Lico wouldbe worse than voting for a dead person to an elective office. He has no clue except tp make himself public knowledge. He has ran for Arlington City Council, state office, and Congress, plus school board many times. He is one word "joke" He worlked at three clubs in the early 80's in Arlington and the crowds dispersed, the club changed format, closed or changed names and format. I do not know why Lico continues. One thing is for sure he is a follower of PT Barnum.
