The Mod Squad: Why Isn't It On DVD??

Since this topic is on another post,I was going to ask why The Mod Squad, the TV show, isn't on DVD?? It has been over 10 years since I last saw an episode of The Mod Squad. And also I was wondering why the pilot of The Mod Squad wasn't shown in syndicated reruns. There was an episode where Linc got shot and they flashbacked to the pilot episode. But the pilot episode of how Pete,Linc and Julie got together hasn't been seen since its network run. Does Paramount or another company have rights to The Mod Squad?? I sure would like to see the first season on DVD.

Same here. Someone should at least give us "Return Of the Mod Squad"(1979) on DVD. I recall watching a week of The Mod Squad on E! back in '94.<P ID="signature">______________

I taped Return Of The Mod Squad when it aired on TBS back in 1994.I figured it would probably never ever be seen on TV again and sure enough it hasn't aired since. Last time I saw The Mod Squad was when it was on WWOR's national cable feed in 1994 and 1995 along with Dragnet,Adam-12,Emergency,and The Fugitive. I enjoyed the reunion movie a lot although it was 6 years since The Mod Squad aired and the characters moved on with their lives(Pete working in his father's company,Linc adopting a boy(played by Todd Bridges),Julie married and having a young daughter). Also Pete buying another Woody car after the original car went over a cliff during the 2nd season. It would be great to see both the reunion movie and the 1st season on DVD.

To answer your question about why you never saw the original episode on late night TV....It is my understanding that the original Mod Squad episode was a made-for-TV movie that was about 90 minutes long (airing back in 1968 sometime). Therefore, the original episode was too long to play as a repeat/syndication (being 90 minutes long, instead of only 60 minutes long, like all of the other episodes). And at 90 minutes in length, the original episode was too short to split into two 60 minute episodes.---That's why you never saw (and probably never will see) the original Mod Squad episode on late night TV/rerun land.
