So now that Main Line Broadcasting has acquired WJZV, WARV, WCUL, and WBBT from MainQuad Communications and Richmond Broadcasting, what effect will that have on our airwaves? Radical changes? More of the same?<P ID="signature">______________

Bopst, for now, I am predicting that the 5 hour song loop will continue on WCUL until they get a format and DJ's in place. I am thinking it will end up either as a HotAc or "BOB" like format. Nothing radical for a shake up at all. Heck, this morning In a Gadda Da Vida was on LOL. Now, if there is a shake up with the "BOB" format, it's going to drop the ratings for a few stations if the buzz catches on. WMXB would suffer the most, because it's already stinging from the fact that Lite 98 was 10 years in front of them with the SoftAC format. X and Y would take a hit, especially if the format brings in 80's alt recurrents. The Planet would, after JB&B, unless there is a morning show that has faces that are more popular than them locally(calling Jeff Beck to leave The Wolf along with Betty Bodine and Jeff McKee to get back on the air ). Radio One might for those who are upset over the merger of KissFM and Jammin Oldies to just KissFM. Q 94 would see a huge drop on Flashback Friday....why deal with a 80's song in the middle of music of the mall all day, just to have ONLY 3 hours. It would show Q that bringing it back is not going to help the ratings in the long run. About the only formats not going to take a hit would be country, sports, gospel and talk.
