THE MOST AMAZING PREDICTIONS YET!

I

IKnowItAll

Guest
Four months ago I was challenged to predict what ten radio stations
would do in the summer book. I was correct in every case except for
KBKS, which no one would have believed would drop for four books. To
make up for only batting 90%, I predicted the effect of JACK on six
radio stations, prior to the book coming out. The results:
100% correct!!!

Four months ago I correctly picked the outcome for KMPS, KZOK, KOMO, KNDD,
JACK, KBSG, KWJZ. KRWM, KIRO, KNDD.

JACK did exactly what I predicted to the following stations:
KRWM Down...went down
KJR FM Flattened growth...was flat
KBSG Down...went down
KZOK Down...went down
KPLZ Down...went down
KLSY Terrible...still terrible, even worse 25-54 (if that is possible)

The correct results for 16 radio stations, missing only KBKS going down. Amazing...Yes! Psychic...YES...Genius...Maybe!!!!!! Hold ME!!!

My KBKS prediction will come true in Fall, I just missed it by a month or so.
They will not go jockless, and will rebound some, but will get no where near
KUBE's numbers. It is the poor man's 18-34 station if you can't get on KUBE, KMPS or KISW. My prediction: THEY WILL NOT CHANGE OR GO COUNTRY.

Now the answer to the question you have all been asking? Where is the
new Country station you predicted? Answer KNBQ! Station debuted stronger
than KLSY and when its power increased knocked two full share points out of
KMPS. This station will finish in the two share range in Fall!

Finally, if KIRO had just listened to iknowitall they wouldn't have fired half their staff. Their midday guy had a big book, so did the entire station finishing first in the last phase. Patience and close attention to inknowitall on radio-info would have kept KIRO from making rash decisions.

Ahhhh! I'm bored.

You are one odd (awed) poster, but I must admit
that was pretty impressive. I am glad it worked out
and that you got em right. I would have missed your
posts, not for the accuracy, but the sheer ego.

Well done iknowitall. (I can't believe I am actually
responding to this)

HOW DOES ONE GET 25-54 NUMBERS ON A POST W/O ARBITRON'S
> PERMISSION??????

It is not legal to post numbers, however commenting on them is not
breaking any rule. Many times you will see comments in trades, the paper
or on radio sites about which stations did well 25-54. The actual numbers
cannot be posted or the actual rank. It is perfectly fine to say "this
station did terrible 25-54" or "these stations did well 25-54" as long as
you don't post actual numbers or rank, it is just editorial comment.

I would not believe everything you see on this board however. Some posters
play loose with the numbers and demos quoting trends or worse extraps. Still
it is important to note that 12 plus numbers are for the most part terrible
indicators of a stations success. How they perform in key demographics is more
critical. How they perform over a four book average is key for media buys.

I for one enjoy the comments that go beyond 12+ both in the trades and on
advertiser and radio boards. It shows a broader understanding of radio.
(please don't read into that statement that iknowitall has a broad understanding
of radio. He is just good at guessing and has access to 12+ and 25-54 ratings,
as do most board ops in this market)

Let's just say IKnowItAll is not a board-op and is quite aware of trends in Seattle because of the tools this person at her/his disposal.

Jack-FM has a very similar demo to all the stations you predicted it would affect. I think any somewhat sober PD would have made roughly the same predictions. It is pretty obvious what stations Jack-FM is Not going to affect. It is Not going to affect stations that have different demos. So....what's all the hype?

TNX djdan...for clarifying the numbers game beyond 12+; Blew right by me that no actual 25-54 share and/or market rankings were mentioned. And, yes, after 30 years in the biz, I take many comments on this board with a grain of salt, even those from 'board ops.' -:) 70radio

I believe Infinity will come to their senses and finally bring reggae on their underachieving country station on 94.1 (hey, Willie Nelson put out a reggae album this year, http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...002-8404315-6958456?v=glance&s=music&n=507846 . A great listen while you fire up a phat bowl..) when 106.1 goes back to country.....

iknowitall is just funny! It is clear he has inside information and a good sense of the local market. I couldn't care less if he (he is a he, right) puts us in a sense of shock and awe, this board keeps me from being bored, unlike many of the other boards in other markets at radio-info.com. And it is convenient that it is this is the market I care about. OK, I am a bit bored right now ...

Shhhhhhh

Now you're gonna let out the secret that all Board Ops get the trends and book results.

(sarcasm) You mean where you are, Board ops don't sit in on programming meetings?
(sarcasm off)
