"The Music Guys"?

As a long-time listener to both "Car Talk" and "The Book Guys", I'm wondering if Public Radio offers a similar-type program related to music? In my mind this would be two (or more) folks disussing all sorts of different types of songs and singers, and how those lyrics and melodies and interpretations came to be. Not necessarily focused on one style (I think there's a jazz-related show in that genre) but rather a show that would celebrate the variety and depth of music as "The Book Guys" celebrate books and writing...and perhaps would offer insight and some humor the way Click and Clack do so with all things automotive. It would encourage individuals and families to listen to different and more types of music. Seems like a natural to me, and perhaps I've missed such a show or our local Public stations simply don't carry it.

Otherwise...who wants to start such a show? ;)

Sounds like a cool concept. (I never heard of the "book guys"...)

I *might* listen to a show like that... It would be a hard sell to most single-format music stations, mixing formats like that. news/info stations might like it if the personalities were strong enough.

there was a show kind of based on this concept that focused on Pop and rock called "Pop Vultures", but it died a deserving death. the hosts weren't smart or funny enough and they weren't giving any real insight or information, just opinions.

peter schikele would sometimes do this on his show, "Schikele Mix", but I don't believe he's done any new shows for 6-7 years, that's why we stopped carrying him. some stations are still airing the old ones.
