Let's not get too carried away here. Assuming that some shenanigans are going on is unfair to everyone.
This is broadcasting, right? People get canned every day. Sometimes it's for something they did or didn't do. Sometimes it's because they screwed up on or off the air. Sometimes it's because the General Sales Manager is a tool who couldn't sell parkas to Eskimos, so to make budget, they trim some of the high-priced talent. And sometimes, it's just time to go, y'know?
I have no idea why Chamberlin was let go, but let's not assume the worst about the guy. The only credible thing anyone outside the station can assess is his on-air performance. I found him to be rather uncomfortable as a news anchor. He just didn't look right.
