The Nashville Network is returning to the airwaves...

When this news was announced on the Classic TV board, I posted this message:

I wonder if this service would be available in areas with programming from the Country Network? Having programming from both services in the same area (or TV market) should be no different from having programming from Me-TV, the Retro Television Network, ThisTV, and Antenna TV in the same area.

Given its history, I somehow don't think it will enjoy the same amount of success that Cool TV (Which was NOT a reinvention of a former self) has enjoyed as a diginet

Besides, WHO outside of The Bible Belt would be interested in carrying it? Who outside of The Bible Belt would even WATCH it? With Denver becoming more & more "Californiated" by the day, I don't see either of the local stations here picking up TNN

JMO.....

Cheers ;D

hmmm... interesting ,after seeing this tape, I am going to say this version of TNN is like RFD TV

Other than just making a blanket stereotypical comment, why do you think only those in the Bible Belt would be interested in watching TNN? I live in Iowa, enjoy country music and I would probably watch the new TNN.

Does anyone know the $$ in the "classic" country demos? I believe it might surprise a lot of people.

My friend is a pilot for Net Jets. He says you would be surprised at the number of times he has flown to Nashville Saturday to take someone from NYC or the upper Mid West on a "last minute" trip to The Grand Ole Opry.

IMHO this could do well in any market with a large number of retirees. Potential for ads from Cricket (cell phone), AARP's branded insurance, luxury car, Tractor Supply, or any commercials you see on The History, or Weather Channel and CBS's The Price is Right are likely.

If its anything like its old self, I'd enjoy a return of TNN here in VA. I used to be a regular watcher of things like Crook and Chase, and Nashville Tonight. Ralph Emery's old shows were great too.

That font used in their new logo is definitely Cambria. Lifted right out of Microsoft Word.

This looks like something that a fanboy produced in his basement.

Well when you really think about it, Tornado Alley is merely a Northern extension of the Bible Belt (And sadly, vice versa) so..... ;D

Cheers :)

The Crook & Chase TV show has been back on the air for several years, on RFD-TV. We air a syndicated version where I work. I've noticed lately the distributor credit at the end is The Nashville Network. At first I wondered if Jim Owens was doing that for old times' sake but it looks like TNN is real. It will be interesting to see what programming fills the day. (And I live and work in Nashville, BTW, and Charlie Chase is a friend of mine)

Alaska might want new TNN?

Why not bring it back? After all, they can use the name again now that the old TNN is Spike.

I wonder if Cable Health Network will return next.

That font appears to be the same one that TNN always used. Its the same exact logo that TNN used through the late 80s and 90s until CBS bought the station. There might be a minor difference but it sure looks the same to me.

I think a new TNN is a great idea. Anyone who thinks that a TNN will only draw Bible Belters or hillbillies is sadly misinformed. TNN was a solid national draw for many years. Viacom was obsessed with young demos and that's why they killed it. I know they used the excuse there was redundancy between TNN and CMT, but there was very little overlap as CMT was virtually all music and music videos. TNN had much more lifestyle programming, not to mention plenty of sports. And of course, we know what Viacom ultimately did to CMT...

However, the new logo with that font has the name "The Nashville Network" spelled out in full, while the cable-era logo using that font was "TNN", with "The Nashville Network" on the bottom.
