The NBA isn’t surprised its TV ratings are way down. Radical change already was afoot

Ever heard of Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Steph Curry, etc...? The NBA has plenty of star players. Leonard led Toronto to the championship last year, but unfortunately Toronto doesn't count in the Nielsen ratings.

The ratings for last night's LA vs LA game were huge. I don't think the NBA is hurting that much...

I don't follow basketball. I haven't heard of those guys. I've heard of LeBron, just as I heard about Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. I think perhaps that would have been what BigA meant when he was referring to "stars". Players who become household names -- it helps promote the sport. The NFL has a few of them. NBA and MLB? Not so much, really.

If the NBA is beginning to falter, that's not a great sign. According to the stats I've seen, their demographic is a bit younger than that of the NFL and Baseball -- in the 40's somewhere. Perhaps the sport is beginning to age out, or it's just the niche-ifying of overall entertainment, be it sports or whatever.
