So, imagine my surprise when I pick up a used book and this "Acknowledgements" page greets me when I open the book:

"Thanks to ___________, .....
and.... Michael Dixon, Toby Gold, Barry Landers, Barry Young, Earl Baldwin, Preston Westmoreland, Ellen Schenck, Tom Carroll.... - to name a few of the many radio and TV hosts who have been kind and generous."

Simon & Schuster book published in 1988. KTAR hosts, I can understand. But KFYI? If the book was published in 1988, wouldn't that have put them in the pre-Limbaugh/pre-CC Beer Baron era? And did he use the laugh tracks for guests back then?
 
Yes indeedy (sfx-clap, clap, clap, clap). Beer Baron daze when KFwhyEye was on 9~Ten and used reverb to distinguish theyselves from KT'R. And who could forget Dr. Science? hmmmm...wonder why Mo wasn't on the list of butts to kiss ???
 
KFYI signed on in 1985 and was owned by the Beer Baron and Mr. Wolpin. They eventually sold to Jacor, I beleive, and then ownership eventually morphed to CC. The Beer Baron never had anything to do with CC, but he did bring Rush on board.

And Earl Baldwin was also a KFYI host in 1988. He had previously worked at KTAR.

Here's a trivia question: What station in Phoenix carried Limbaugh before KFYI?

And another: Where was the first "Rush Room" in town?
 
The first time I heard Rush in Phoenix was on 1230 AM back in 1990. At the time my work vehicle was stuck on that station. :D
