"The Neighbors" Thread

Does anyone plan to watch this sci-fi sitcom tonight (September 26, 2012)? If anything, I'd give it a chance even if it has mixed reviews.

I really wasn't expecting much based upon the 'meh' promos, but I smiled a few times. The pilot episode establishing the basic story was surprisingly well done.

Now, will I remember to tune in at 7:30 (CT) next week? I grew to like Suburgatory last year at that same spot, and had to schedule program guide reminders to watch it because I wanted nothing to do with The Middle. It'd be an easier watch after Modern Family.

I agree. I smiled and chuckled but it wasn't all that great. And they had me as a Modern Family holdover viewer. Can't say I would seek this one out again

I liked it. This show actually got me to laugh out loud a couple of times. This show may burn out in about 2-3 seasons. If I'm home, I'll watch it again.

Critics trashed this show so badly, I wasn't going to watch it, but I did and was pleasantly surprised. Some of the bits fell flat, but on the whole, it was funny and I found myself laughing.

I have always liked Jamie Gertz, but the I'm not particularly fond of the actor who played her husband, IIRC - he usually plays small time criminals and creeps. Judging by his delivery, I'd guess he's a stand-up comic. For some reason, these shows seem to like saddling Gertz with schlubs for hubbies. The inevitable comparison - Third Rock from the Sun was a better show- but it didn't hurt that Third Rock had John Lithgow, Jane Curtin, and French Stewart in the cast. All things considered, I thought The Neighborswas entertaining.

I liked it, but I don't see how it can sustain shat the pilot had.

I thought of "3rd Rock" too, but of course they didn't really act like aliens, which makes the characters on this show different. These aliens seem very nerdy and socially awkward. Okay, Dick Solomon was like that to some extent, but he seemed more human.

They're actually doing a good job of keeping it funny.

And Larry Bird does seem like Dick Solomon with a British accent. Jackie Joyner-Kersee isn't like any of the "3rd Rock" cast members, though. She still seems like an alien.
