To add to the above: It sounds like the 70s show on Sunday with Charlie Tuna is gone now, too. Wow!
I'd have been shocked if it was kept. Buckley made the deal with the syndicator; why would Connoisseur have to go on with it? Besides, Tuna played too many of those other kinds of '70s music for a station with a rock lean.

As. I was listening to this station for the past few days on my TuneIn app, I was hearing the Rolling Stones playing on that station. After hearing all the stuff, I had to delete the station. "102.9 DRC-FM" sounded a lot like WPDH in Poughkeepsie which is also a heritage station as well as WBWZ's "Rock 93.3" in New Paltz which is also another competitor to WPDH. Both of these stations sounded a lot like WDRC-FM.
To get back to the subject, there are three oldies stations in the area including "Fox Oldies", WEOK/WALL and "Magic 590", these are the two stations playing the same music for fans of the old WCBS-FM and the old "Big D 103". But sadly, in 2003, WDRC-FM did a great job of transitioning to classic hits from oldies, but even today, oldies in the Hudson Valley and Albany are the in the crowded landscape. As I listened to the station called "Fox Oldies" which is WGNY-FM at 98.9, it sounded a lot like the WCBS-FM of old, but I don't listen to the station anymore, so I have to delete it from my TuneIn app and switched to WROW's "Magic 590" in Albany and it sounds a lot better than "Fox Oldies", they did a great job with their morning show with Jay & Ben, and then Bob Green, he does an excellent job too doing afternoons on the station.
As for WDRC-FM, things have changed over the years, as in the words of David Bowie "Ch-Ch-Changes".

I was a hostage listener to the station this morning when I was out with my Mom. She has a rental car because her car was totaled in an accident Friday afternoon (not her fault and aside from some minor burns on her arms from the airbags she wasn't injured) and the radio in the rental was on 102.9 DRC. My Mom didn't want me messing with the radio. The station sounds very dull and the DJs sound about as enthusiastic as employees at KMART on the last day of their Going out of Business sale. She has to go to work tomorrow so I'm hoping she'll at least let me put WRCH on in the rental for her. (That's the station she normally listens to).
They did offer Ron his show back but told him he had to move it to Sunday Nights.

Ron's show was always a solid #1 so I find it hard to figure out what they can air there which can deliver as much of an audience as Ron did.

Channel 3 interview with Connoisseur Media's CEO
Better Connecticut interviewed Jeff Warshaw CEO of Connoisseur Media. Claims tons of research was done before changing WDRC and that they're giving people what they want, and that the new station isn't that much different than the old one.

So, they replace legendary, heritage Friendly Floyd Wright with Adam Lamberti. Floyd is a Radio Personality. He can ad-lib around liner cards, & the info about artists & station promotions. Lamberti has a decent voice, but he's not an ad-libber. Speaking of another non ad-libber, they bring on Lapatino. He says "Ah, Ah, Ah" between every word & sentence. Thankfully for VoiceTracking, some of the mistakes will be gone. Lamberti & Lapatino - sounds like an Italian law firm. Charlie Parker must be rolling in his grave.

There are two important words that have not been mentioned in this thread. "Debt service" or "Dividend checks". I worked with Floyd, he is a real pro. That said, with quality comes a price. Any new buyer has a loan to repay. One way to do this is reduce expenses. At the expense of quality, yes. The tradeoff is a loss of listeners vs less cost. It's not personal, it's just business.
Thats good news that CBS Radio is giving her work. Has WRCH added anything the old DRCFM played?
Nope, just the standard AC playlist, mostly '90s, '00s and '10s with one or two '80s cuts an hour, max. 'RCH has a good thing going in 25-44 female, they're not going to sabotage their billing by luring more 55+ listeners. I think many of the songs DRC-FM played are gone from Hartford commercial radio for good.
Which is to bad for Hartford. And I don't see any the CBS stations changing as they are all doing well. Only left would be Clear Channel or Red Wolf with 104.1 which by the way how are they doing?
104.1 does not subscribe to the ratings, so their ratings don't show up publicly. That being said I think they must be doing all right. They do tons of giveaways and they do multiple appearances and remote broadcasts every week. (Them and their sister Spanish Tropical station BOMBA 97.1/99.5). And in conjunction with their New London cluster sponsor numerous events.
WMRQ is the lowest billing class B FM in Hartford... even less than what WCCC was pulling in. The difference is that WMRQ has so little overhead... the studio is in with the rest of the Fuller empire, in the office over the Subway in Ledyard. The jocks pull triple-duty, minimum.

That's why companies who usually only deal with him are shocked that the rest of the broadcast community 1) charges for their appearances and 2) doesn't throw in 9 appearances at the Toyota dealership as added value.

What are you talking about? WMRQ is on New London Turnpike in Glastonbury.

Yep, that's the "address." There's a sales office there, and one studio which is used for Bomba. The ACTUAL WMRQ studio, and all of the jocks, are on Colonel Ledyard Highway in Ledyard. Exactly 0% of the programming originates from that site. That's why the station's STL path originates in Ledyard and heads direct to Meriden. They'd like you to think the studio is in Glastonbury because nobody would be impressed with the truth. As someone who's been there, I can tell you right now that WMRQ programming is run from Ledyard.
