The New 96.1 has switched to all Christmas

Apparently they flipped the switch yesterday according to this article from RadioInsight.

Is there any difference in sound/playlist options between Audacy and Townsquare?
I would expect that almost every Christmas Radio format in the country is about the same. They just recycle the same charred ones year after year. I've found many Christmas songs from Rock artists that are actually pretty good. None of them are on Radio playlists...

Sounds like they did change up some of the artists with similar sounding tunes.
I'm pretty sure Star 102 used to play Wham's version of Last Christmas while the NEW 96.1 FM is playing Jimmy Eat World's version...also Taylor Swift's version.
Wham is from the '80s, so it's probably a little old for the Star (either one) audience, and too new for WECK2. I guess George Michael fans will have to wait for WHTT to start sprinkling in Christmas tunes.

Yup. That sounds right. Sticking with the artists that best fit the format is always best. For a second there I thought that Christmas music was the exception to the rule, but when there's a version that BEST fits the format, it makes great logic to stick with that version. Wham on WHTT it is...(closer to Christmas, I gather...)
