We finally have an FM Urban AC station in the area. It's a Boston station, but most Boston stations have listeners in much of RI. The New 97.7 will not make me cancel Sirius/XM, but it is the best station I have heard since 103.3 WODS. It is currently playing 10,000 songs in a row of mostly old school and some new R&B. Even though it's one of the least powerful Boston stations, it can be heard well in northern Rhode Island, especially Cumberland, Woonsocket, North Smithfield, Lincoln, and Smithfield. When I am in an area where I can hear it, 97.7 will be one of the few stations I listen to when not listening to Sirius/XM. I don't think it will have any effect on Providence radio stations except maybe Hot 106, which is strongest in the area of northern RI and nearby MA where 97.7 can be heard.
