The new Atlanta News First anchor adjustments

Well I have interesting thoughts about the anchor line up on Atlanta News First. Plus I see Peachtree TV won't simulcast WANF as often and did pick up some syndication from WUPA. They have Rick Folbaum on 4-7 am with Gurvir at 4 and Cryeia at 5&6am. Brooks and Gurvir hold down 7 to 10am. Then Cryeia joins Brooks for the noon hour. Joe is solo at 3 then Blair and Tracye anchor 4-6:30pm the 30 minute weather show has Jennifer and Patrick hosting at 6:30pm. Then Tracye and Blair do the 7pm half hour the 9pm hour and 35 minute 11pm show, Karli is solo at 10pm.

The weekends have Meghan from 8-10am , Sydney at 5 9 and 11pm with Joy at 6 and 10pm. I still wonder why solo at 3 and 10pm.

Karli & Joe also co-anchor the 4:30 PM half hour & 5:30 PM half hour. Then Karli comes back to do the “Top 7 At 7” segment on the 7PM newscast on Atlanta News First. Blair & Tracye co-anchor the 4:00 PM half hour, the 5:00 PM half hour, and the 6:00 PM half hour. Sydney also anchors the Saturday 7PM newscast, but unlike the Mon.-Fri. 7PM newscast, the Saturday 7PM newscast is NOT commercial-free. You don’t have 20 minutes of nonstop news in the Saturday 7PM newscast like you do for the Mon.-Fri. 7PM newscast.

Thanks for the info I missed watching the ANF App on my Roku in my new Carolina home. I also see Patrick Pete does the 4:30 and 5:30 half hour weathercast and the 6pm. So with 6 meterologists at 46 no one is AMS certified?

This from Google's Gemini:
Yes, at least one meteorologist on WANF (Atlanta News First) is AMS certified. First Alert Meteorologist Ella Dorsey holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorology (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The CBM is the highest certification available to on-air meteorologists.

I still cant wrap my hands around the anchor time slots because its not constant daily. I liked when Sharon Reed and Ben Swann were the anchors. It seemed like more energy was there during that time.

At this point, do we expect Shone Gables to return or will she end up at CBS Atlanta?

CBM and AMS are different. AMS is much more prestigious. The fact a tv station in a top 10 market doesn’t have a AMS certified met is a testament to ANF focus. There hype on the “First Alert Weather Days” because there is a 90 degree day or some morning showers drives me bonkers. Again, I’m sure there is a market for what ANF is after but for me, it’s everything that is wrong with broadcast local news.

My understanding is that the ams seal is no longer issued but those that had it keep it unless they apply to upgrade to the cbm status which takes more education and experience and qualifications then what the old plain ams seal required

No. CBM is certification offered by AMS.

As Ronnie says, the AMS Television Seal is no longer issued and has not been for at least 15 years. There are only 231 individuals still holding the old AMS seal, with the vast majority who ever held it having retired, or otherwise allowed their AMS membership to expire.

You're probably thinking of NWA.

Yeah you are right. NWA.

I am watching the 11PM newscast today 9/9/2025. It is exhausting. Most stories are 45-60 seconds or less. One anchor. So many stories in a short period of time and I don't really know more than a few sentences. So far, I am not a fan of the product.
