The new face of Internet radio.

Snippets of what Mark Ramsey writes to traditional radio people:

"What would we be and do if we didn't have a broadcast tower at all and only had a website? ... Yesterday I visited an Internet radio station...that has...a room full of painfully young artists creating digital and video content, live bands rolling through regularly (and a performance room for them to play in), a real-life air studio and another production studio, two station vans in the lot, and a programmer at the wheel who has helmed major radio stations before and knows full well that he is finally constrained not by what he must do, but what he could and should do .... Say "hello" to your new competition."

Get ready for the next phase. Internet radio prepares a direct assault on traditional radio.

Right you are. Isn't it amazing that..given the right circumstances..a kid in Denton, Texas could have the MOST listened to station in the WORLD..over anyone's streams..this is the beginning of true parity in audio entertainment. No longer will there be better signals, or multiple towers or real estate that is worth more than the station itself..The springboard will be national WiFi or wimax whatever it is, and it WILL be here..sooner than you think. Right now in Korea and major towns in Switzerland you can get an aftermarket car 'radio' that is IP addressable with 200 presets.

And ALL of this new found access will launch new formats, new content providers and new methods for making some money in this business.

I took all of this way seriously several years ago and jumped into the Internet radio Imaging business..charging a fraction of what I charge terrestrial radio stations for product, and making friends along the way. This will payoff in the long term with new clients, along with compelling, and fresh station imaging ideas. This business is FUN again..it's like riding in a shiny new bus!

Jeff,

You made a friend here! Love your stuff on my AM station and thanks for giving me a great rate. I wanted a voice that was big, but not too big and official, but friendly and you pulled it off. Seriously, Jeff will work with you and make the station sound "radio" if that is what you want or just a nice guy actually communicating the message you want. No he did not put me up to this lol! One of the nicest guys in or out of the biz.
