The new FM 97 studios

Man, it took the Lancaster new era to break the story? Whats the scoop, is the new studios great or what? Did cheap channel go all out?

do you mean new FM studios on Queen St. or have they finally left the building? did am1390 get new studios too-- for their satellite old fart music?

do you mean on route 272? what's their address? won't the staff miss climbing the stairs on queen st. & easy access to the state store?

Damn! That's very sad to me, because for 7 years (from 1994-2001) I was the morning guy there. We enjoyed HUGE success, #1's across the Arbitron board from 1995-2001...but the damn building had spirit, and was semi responsible. "Broadcasting from high a-top the liquor store in downtown Lancaster....It's cadillac jack and lauren on fm-97...WLAN..."

I never worked at WLAN, but visited there twice - in 1979, during the AM's last days as a Top 40 station, and again twenty years later, in 1999, when Toby Knapp threw me on the air.

I never could have worked there. The damn stairs would have killed me.

But that old building had character and heritage, and while I'm sure the new place is a palace, it's always a shame when a radio station moves out of its longtime location.

Good luck, WLAN.

Is this Clark Ingram? My Hero....Its partially your fault I got into this biz in the first place LOL

Can you say B-94....or better yet...Q-94???

:D

Isn't it amazing that B-94 is gone, but Q-94 is still Q-94? (albeit an album-rock station now and not Top 40)

We held a 20-year reunion of the original Q-94 staff in 2001. That was a blast.

Thanks for the kind words. And, I am sorry to see that State College has lost its Top 40 station. The call letter and frequency roulette in that market has got to be Arbitron's worst nightmare.

Kudos to the staff at LAN, not only for their numbers, but for getting out of the ever so crime growing lancaster city...They are and will always be a true lancaster station even if they are now on the outskirts of the city. Just means less muggings to staff members walking to their cars at the village LOL

caddy and clarke....

thank you.

for all you've done that you'll never really know about... thank you!

from the capital city of the free world,

I heard that FM 97 got new studios....I really have fond memories of the old one on Queen Street. I was there from 85-87. Dave Diamond was the PD and he decided that the control room needed to have a "mood setting light arrangement"......so we (meaning I) was directed to paint the ceiling BLACK....and then we installed track lighting with different color lights shining on the board and the album rack...

It always seemed like you walked up the stairs into 1950's radio with the old lobby the way it was....

And I hated the stairs too, but I did lose weight during that time :)

And of course (and this is probably with ALL control rooms)...if the walls could tak, the stories they would have to tell ;)

I too.... worked at FM-97 from 1980 - 86 ..... and Karlyle was right... walking up the stairs to the lobby was like going back in time to the '50's. What a great time I had while working there.

Oh my my..... those were the days........ came to Lancaster in April of '80 at 97... and stayed for seven years. Who would've known...... Boy, those were the days. Gary
