The New FM Talk 106.7 (With Audio)

Neal Boortz just introduced the station by teasing the new lineup including Michael Savage, who's banned in the UK but not San Antonio!

First "song": The CNN TOH jingle.

Joy!

Edited to add: A link to audio of the launch, including the final ten minutes of Santa 106.7, Boortz's transitional announcement, and the first five minutes or so of FM Talk 106.7 Local spots were replaced with Internet stream ads, which I removed. Anyone know who the first sponsor was?

Re: The New FM Talk 106.7

2 minutes of cnn news followed by 4 minutes of psa's, promos and a guy giving traffic and the ''official forecast from the national weather service.'' That's what we can expect at the top of the hour? click. click. click. crickets.

One more syndie talker with no connection whatsoever to it's city of license. What a waste of the public's (ha! ha!) airwaves.

BRING BACK SANTA!

.....rather than this pre-processed, generic dreck.

Cox dumped hip hop for this racist b.s.? Geez, give me a break!

THE NEW FM TALK 106.7, SAN ANTONIO'S NEXT GENERATION OF TALK RADIO

Next generation? Who are they kididng!

Their lineup is typical, lame agenda driven 2nd tier leftovers.

Next generation?

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Like I said in a different thread, this format won't last long. San Antonio is less conservative now than it was 10 years ago.

With many conservative hosts getting a lot of attention for their criticism of the Obama administration, conservative talk might just be successful for the next few years.

Of course, in Cox's case, they're going to have to do it with second-tier conservative talkers.

Let's see how long this format last. Man, Cox just can't get it right on this frequency.

I'll give it a year. Talk is just something that shouldn't be a main format on FM maybe someone might buy the frequency out by then and make something happen.

I've yet to hear anything "racist" on 106.7... please, elaborate.

I've thought for years that Cox should break the KONO simulcast and put Boortz & Clark Howard and whoever else they can on KONO-AM - I guess this will suffice.

Tell that to folks in Pittsburgh, Boston and Minneapolis, where FM stations are thriving with talk programming...

Also note that Cox recently started simulcasting programming from AM talk stations in cities such as Jacksonville and Dayton, Ohio. I think this could be the first time they started a talk station on FM outright.

Don't forget their recent decision to simulcast KRMG on 102.3 in Tulsa.

Maybe Cox will switch KONO-AM from an oldie simulcast to a talk simulcast. It would catch the AM listeners who scan or seek between KTSA and WOAI.

Ummm, there's no comparson to our FM Talk station with the above cities you just mentioned. First off, all three cities have local programming morning and evening. Which has a connection to the city that they represent. 106.7 has absolutely none. One minute of local news with a 30 second traffic update isn't going to cut it. Second, the line up is stronger than what 106.7 has graciously provided us with.

Again, this format will be a flop in our beloved city. WOAI and KTSA, have no worries about this station.

Just in case, your curious about the line up for above cities listed-

WPGB-Pittsburgh
Quinn and Rose 6am-10am (Local)
Glenn Beck 10am - 12pm
Rush Limbaugh 12pm - 3pm
Sean Hannity 3pm - 6pm
Ellis Cannon 6pm - 8pm (Local)

WTKK-Boston
Imus in the morning
Margery & Jim(Local)
Michael Graham(Local?)
Michele McPhee(Loca)

KTLK-Minneapolis
Chris Baker 5am-9am(Local)
Glenn Beck 9am-11am
Rush 11am-2pm
Sean Hannity 2pm-5pm
Jason Lewis 5pm-8pm(Local)

Oh, just what we need....another SA talker with NO local content. Let's keep the music coming, Cox!

Valid point. I was just speaking of talk on the FM band in general.

As far as the Boston lineup: Graham is indeed local, as is the afternoon drive host, Jay Severin, who might have been missing from the website you got your information from, due to a recent one-month suspension for on-air comments he made (see the Boston board for more information). McPhee is in evening drive. So basically, WTKK is all local with the exception of Imus. When I met the station's PD last year, she told me that she was committed to local personalities and local programming, and with the headway they've been making in the ratings, it certainly is working.

Have you seen her station list on lauraingraham.com?
No NYC affil, KGIL in LA, a rimshot in Chicago.
And everyone seems to run her at a different time.
How can you connect with the listeners when you're not carried live?
